Do all parameters really appear on the Parameters tab?

Depending on the object or vendor, sometimes it's hard to know in which tab a parameter is hiding--in Shaping, Posing, or Parameters. Sometimes I remember a control dial exists, but I go crazy flipping tabs trying to find it.

Do I understand correctly that all the controls always appear somewhere on the Parameters tab, and the Posing/Shaping tabs only display a subset? In other words, controls cannot be moved so they only appear on Posing or Shaping, can they?

I'm wondering if I could close the Posing and Shaping tabs and forget about them forever, reducing the number of places I have to search for controls.

The Posing pane and the Shaping pane both contain an Editor page that serves as filtered views of the Parameters pane; the Shaping pane is different in that it interacts with the Region Navigator tool. Both panes also include a Files page that serves as filtered views of the Smart Content pane. The Parameters pane and the Smart Content pane are the less specific ancestors of the panes/pages mentioned.

Chohole, that's not easy to interpret, but I think you mean "yes." Thank you. I think I must have a support issue, then, because for me there are some parameters that don't show up on the Parameters tab when they should.

Do you perhaps have Show Hidden on in one pane and not in the other? That's in the pane's option menu - the lined button in the top corner, or right-click on the tab.

I will definitely check for that!

I put in a tech support request because, for example, if I select a character in my scene, go to the Parameters tab, click "All", and type "shin" into the search box, posing controls for the shins do not show up--neither on the Parameters nor the Posing tab. To pose shins, have to either use the ActivePose Tool and click on the shins or click the disclosure triangles in the Scene tab to follow the body parts all the way down to the shins. Then when I select the shins, their posing controls show up in both Parameters and Posing. This is part of the reason I experience such frustration having to click around all over the place to find a control I know exists.

When a character is selected in the Scene tab and I click "All," I do see many posing controls including ones for Hip and Leg. But not shins. I'll explore the pane's option menu tonight to see if there is any way it could be configured to hide stuff from me.

The figure-level pose controls drive tansforms on several bones, they are for coordinated movement and aren't intended to wholly replace using the individual bone transforms such as those on the shins. You should be able to select the shin bones by clicking on them, if you have a node selection tool (such as the Universal tool) active - by default the first click will select the figure, if neither it nor one of its bones are selected, and subsequent clicks will select the bone under the pointer.
