Can you create 3D environments with DAZ?
in The Commons
Hi all,
I realize Bryce is the software for creating 3D environments, but this is limited on Macs that use OS 10.6 and beyond. As such, I am wondering if 3D environments can be created in DAZ, or if DAZ is restricted to character creation?
Thanks.

I would suggest that perhaps Carrara would suit you. DS is not quite the same as either Bryce or Carrara when it comes to actually creating environements, although many vendors have made 3d environemts that you can use in DS. http://www.daz3d.com/carrara-8-5-pro
That depends on what you mean by create - you could make a large plane primitive with many divisions (from the Create menu), apply one or more DForms to it and use the weight mapping tols to "paint" relief onto it - though texturing might be an issue. However, most people would use add-ons such as TerraDome 3 or sets from people like Andrey Pestryakov FirstBastion
Here's a link to where you can see some 360 renders that were made in Daz Studio (if you have the right product as Richard indicated).
Actually, Daz Studio is rendering and animation software, not creation software. You would need a modeling program to create landscapes such as carrara, blender, or one of the high end apps such as Maya.
For generating landscape type environments within DAZ Studio, your closest to Bryce would be TerraDome 3 (and add-ons), as Richard mentioned.
