Looking for a jean jacket

Hi. I'm trying to do a portrait of a character from one of my books. She dresses in jeans and a jean jacket. I can find jeans easily enough, but I am pulling my hair out trying to locate a jean jacket that actually functions as a jacket. Every jacket I've found is more about sex than keeping my character warm. What good is a jean jacket that stops right below her breasts? I imagine that's not really going to help keep out the wind very much.

Does anyone out there know of a useful denim jacket for Victoria? (V4 would be preferred, but I might be able to figure out V5 if absolutely necessary...)

    Those are perfect illustrations of my problem, not a solution. Notice the 3" or so gap between the bottom of the jacket, and the top of her pants/skirt/whatever? Very sexy, completely USELESS as a an article of warm clothing.

    Sorry, those are normal cut for jeans jackets for females i see out and about. They do come much shorter.

    No, those are the *fashion* cuts for females. My character is not a fashion-plate, she's an outdoorsman. It is quite easy to find a full-length denim jacket for a woman. You just have to look someplace that isn't charging you $200 for something that should cost $20.

    And I'm aware that there are products for M3, V3, and M4. I was hoping, however, to avoid having to purchase more than one product (conversion requires one of the conversion utilities...)

    What might work is to see if you can find a jacket at the right length and then use a denim shader on it.

    Something like

    but with a denim texture/shader might suffice, from what you're describing.

    Oh, and while the shorter jackets aren't that practical, they do help keep the shoulders/arms warm. Which can be enough depending on the rest of the outfit (and the weather). So they're not totally useless. Just not what you're looking for. ;)

    Yeah... if I was good at texturing, this would be a good option. Unfortunately, my texturing is worse than my modeling, and my modeling is fairly mediocre, despite many years of toying with it.

    But have you noticed that 90% of the time, when they're wearing such a jacket, they're also baring their midriff????

    Kerya: Thank you for the link. That is SO close to being what I need... if only it opened! :( Yeah, I know, now I'm just being picky, but I have a specific image in mind, and for that, the jacket needs to open. But thanks, anyway.

    I have two free jackets on ShareCG which you could texture with denim. Not sure if that's the sort of thing you are looking for though.

    If it's a plain jacket then you aren't going to need much more than a simple repeat to retexture a non-denim jacket. I'm pretty sure fabricator has denims, and if it doesn't there should be some denims as free add ons http://www.daz3d.com/the-fabricator

    Richard Haseltine: Thank you, but I was trying to avoid having to acquire two products to do one job. Perhaps Fabricator is something I should have anyway, but... DS isn't my primary working program. (If they'd made it somehow Carrara-compatible, I'd be much more interested...)

    chohole: The jacket is good, but with no texture that even remotely resembles denim. As I pointed out earlier, I'm not so good at texturing. I can alter an existing texture, but creating a new one of my own usually doesn't come out as desired. :-S

    Kerya: The steampunk is both too simple, and too fancy, all at the same time. It is missing some details that I'd like it to have (pockets), but the details it does have are over-fancified (fasteners)

    Spit: The closest so far, yay! :-) I'll use this if no one comes up with a better option. I think I can modify one of the existing textures to be a little darker, more resembling a jean-like material. The details on the jacket are great.

I won't bother with my usual long lament about how Victoria's wardrobe is long on sex and short on practicality: we all already know it. I appreciate what you've done so far.     Super! (Excuse the quote clipping) I hesitated to post but went ahead because there's good value to threads like these for 'lurkers' as well as the original poster. One may think they've discerned what the OP wants but you never know, and besides someone may come along, follow the links and find something they may want for themselves. It's happened to me several times.

    And with that I think I may have finally moved out of 'member' status to the next level. tee hee

    Yes, it's certainly helpful to see what's out there. Even to me: Just because I can't use it for this project, doesn't mean I won't need it later.
