I think the caveat is getting good enough textures to convert. They don't have to be perfect, but without them it's going to be a frustrating time.
Yes, most of the head (lower forehead to the chin) is generated from the source head image, the rest of the head and the body textures are generated with the program's texture templates. It obviously uses an algorithm to match the tone of the body textures to the head. This character started out with a clear, well lit, relatively high resolution, neutral expression, head shot. In Photoshop, selected the whole image and rotated it to the eyes were "level". After generating and applying the new materials and head morph to the base Genesis 2 Male, applied the N.G.S. Anagenessis 2 - Revolution shader which changed the tone of the skin dramatically.
You can absolutely do that. In fact I do it all the time when makeup or brighter eyes are needed.
I bought it at full price and don't regret it at all. If you're willing to take the time to find the right images you can get good results.
