How to Add New Shaping and Posing Controls

There are packages in the DAZ store that offer new controls for shaping and posing. Can anyone do this for any object? Or is it something only the DAZ programmers can do? Let's say I have a wearable that cannot currently be posed properly when a character is wearing it; is there a way I can add the new controls I'd need?

What about on characters? If I wanted to add sliders to alter the morph and give Genesis 3 characters Martian Manhunter-style coneheads or Klingon-like forehead ridges, is that something possible for an end user to accomplish?

If so, what software do I need to create the controls: Hexagon, Blender, or something else?

Can anyone point me to a tutorial?

Hexagon, Blender, Carrara, Zbrush, etc. Can all do that. You can also use Dforms within Daz Studio to do some less precise morphing.

I'm surprised so many other programs can create controls in DAZ Studio. What do you do, just group surfaces and give them a name, and after exporting suddenly the name shows up as a slider in DS?

No, it is not that automatic. Look on Yutube for videos on how to create morphs for Daz,Studio. Look on Deviantart for written tutorials by SickleYield. I'm posting from my phone and don't have direct links handy to give you.
