I haven't seen the movie and don't know if I will, but WOW there's some awesome armor in there!!
Commander Lin Mae... talk about gorgeous armor! I wonder if I could kit-bash a few armor sets to get this?

leave out the chainmail undersuit and shrink the rest and you have half the offerings in the store.
Hahaha... true! I suppose one could take the chainmail from one of the male suits then fit everything else to that...
Still... I love the design and color. If I had that for Daz, I think I would figure out some way of always working it into a scene... kind of like how I generally always try to put a mouse in my pics (for the most part).
I suspect the armour people would complain about the lack of abdomen plates here as much as they do with some of the items in the store, and while the chest plate is less sculpted than many Daz sets it isn't entirely practical either.
True, but it does protect the important parts (I mean the heart and lungs, of course.... ).
I think it's the blues that really do it for me. And the cloak is really nice too. Heck, I may just have to buy the figure it's so nice!
Yeah, I don't want to be that guy...
But they should be coming here to look for inspiration.
If they aren't already. Video games and fighting games are already there with the armor.
But you're right. Strangely enough, that actually looks somewhat useful. Daz has a lot of armor sets that would be too heavy and block the vision.
Damn reality! Bless the render.
This looks usable and practical while still looking stylish. Most of the new armor sets in the DAZ store are taking "impractical" to new heights. Dragon'sbane is almost OK, but the belt buckle/ornament, knee horns and the helmet horns are cumbersome. Why have helmet parts which would snag on the shoulder plates opr stop you from turning your head if your arm is slightly raised? Oops. my knees are hooked together. Pity the wearer if he gets knocked forward and gets impaled on his own belt buckle. I would have bought this set if it did not have all this useless ornamentation stuck onto it.
Heavy Barbarian - Again, the belt buckle is too much. If un-necessary and impractical horns were not there I would buy it. It looks like simply making them transparent might not look good.
Barabarian Chieftain, again with the impractical horns! Why is the skull even there? Is this guy needing that to look any scarier? Try wearing something with those horns sticking out there. How do you fight with those slashing your own wrists or snagging your gauntlets?
Kadis Armor takes impractical to extreme - lets put 200 lbs on each shoulder, not to mention all the other dead weight, and still not protect any vital targets or actually have any structure or common sense at all about the armor. But, oh, it looks cool!
Would somebody please make some armor and barbarian gear that has some practicality and common sense to it? (Or make a version of the ones I listed above that look good without the cattle skulls/horns on them?) Also - no high heels!
I don't know some things just don't look as cool if they don't have horns. But I guess some people look at being practical while others prefer cool. It's personal choose !
@Midnight_stories - I think you are missing my point. The picture that you attached does not contain the characterstics which I am talking about. The horns are not in an "impractical" configuration. If you are going to add such decor, the way you have done so is quite good. The examples I have cited have these features configured in a manner which interferes with functionality. Also the amount of mesh overlap/poke-through increases astronomically, limiting pose options.
I think MS is just showing off his next product
I DO like that armor. It has a Lyonesse style.
They do the same thing in movies. There's always the safety first outfit (foam spikes, flats instead of heels, black sneakers instead of shoes etc) and then the one(s) for close shots.
I guess I don't even mind the ignored trappings of reality. I'd rather err on the side of ridiculous, but cool to look at.
Even in games you'll see the collision markers ignore some of the huge armor details- it's like they get it that this is actually a liability in combat.
That looks really good!
Now, as long as I can change the skull on the front to a Unicorn jumping over a rainbow...
Also you can add morphs to move things around or hide, to suit your needs ! The armored skirt was not one of my better choices insane to rig and keep under control. Won't be doing that again! it's a hard balancing act and you please all the people all the time just find a happy middle ground.
Please please please say it will be in 3Delight as well as Iray...
Armour for the refined barbarian...... hurry to the runway.....
They're something to grip as you're breaking his neck. So practical in one sense.
Accurate AND hilarious!
Sorry for my butchering of the "Quotes". I try to figure out the system, never able to learn it. I expected the "Quote" to actually grab the new comment made by nicstt, not all of the previous related posts/quotes. So I tried to delete the rest of it and the results are somewhat confusing.
It always amuses me reading about armour that looks good.
That's why soldiers have ceremonial and practical uniforms (and used to have the same for armour); making it serve both functions gets soldiers killed. Or worse, from some folks perspective, look unfashionable. :)
It's an aspect that kills believability for me.
... Unless after the battle it looks like its been through a battle. Surprisingly often, they don't.
To the OP - but yeh, it looks great.
Do we even have ceremonial armour/uniform sets on Daz, even for girls? What about guys?
There are PLENTY of ceremonial armor sets, depending on how far back in figure history you're willing to go.
IMO, they are almost all ceremonial. :) It's just that their idiot-commander insists they go out and fight in it.
Yes there are two types of fantasy artists, those from the school of cool, and those from a more historical realistic bent. Either are fine as long as the balance isn't offset toward one or the other. Which is unfortunately the case where gender is concerned much of the time.
Still I have to wonder exactly how many artists are history buffs to any extent? Sadly most people get their knowledge of history from movies, which goes a long way to explaining a lot of the designs and stuff we see.
And HOLY CRAP, I just realized that was a photo of a model and not actual photo of the actress! That is incredible work!
There's a reason it's going to release at around $168 US.
Of course, being 11" tall, it's not a minor figure (extra hands for different poses, mesh cape, and other things). Personally, I think it's a seriously nice piece of art. I'd be happy to have it on display.
There is a company that does the same thing for super hero figures. Been tempted a few times by this one
