tips for clothes fitting tutorials

Hi, just wondering if I could be pointed in the right direction.  I am having difficulties in getting clothes to go on figures.  For instance, the clothes go on fine when you put them on the figure in t formation.  But then when you do a pose, the clothes get all distorted.  What kind of terms do I search for to find clothes fitting tutorials or tutorials on how to get clothes to go on right after you pose the figure.  I just don't know what the language is in Daz Studio that would pertain to correcting this problem.  any info appreciated, thanks.

  • Are you using the clothes on the figure they were made for or are you AutoFitting them to another figure?

It is quite a common problem. Please look at the available morphs included with the clothes.

Sometimes scaling a part or whole cloth helps. Even better, if cloth has some extra bones for posing.

Clothes get easily distorted, when they poke through with the figure.

Just some ideas, to get you started.

No, this is for the figure that they were made for... Right now, I just want to educate myself with the process and techniques in general for clothes, but when I search I don't get much, but here again, I don't know what I should be searching for.   It's not like Iray lighting versus 3delight lighting where it's very clear what you're looking for.

Thanks Artini. See that kind of stuff is what I mean.  When I think of bones, I think of the figures.  I had no idea that clothes had bones. Morphs is another good word I can search for, thanks.

maybe an image or two showing what the problem is since everyone has their own idea of what 'distortion" would be. By it's very nature (think of mesh as virtual playdoh), mesh is going to distort when you pose it. It was designed on a single pose and depending on the rigging, it can distort quite a bit when posed, especially in extreme poses since you are stretching the mesh.

Considering the very nature of what mesh is, it's amazing it works as well as it does.

  • Hi everybody, thanks for your help.  Searching for bones, morphs, fitting, and autofit, I managed to find enough video tutorials and regular tutorials to explain why things were happening.  I also discovered that some clothing also have parameters that allow you to further apply the clothing to the figure.   So, I've managed to solve the problem.  Thanks for all your help.
