The Emissive shaders alone made it a must-buy for me! Grear stuff.
Very good! In the render below I lit the figure with emissive planes that are just outside of camera range- a 3 point setup. The shadows are so soft, love it!
Hi Marshian I am manually doing it now..lol
though there is a freebie IrayTo3Delight conversion script that timmins.william,& Esemwy did that seems to to work pretty good I still have to manually do the trans maps and cuts outs but over all not bad. the reason I need a conversion script is because i like iray but not for animation I like the control I have much better with 3dl for dramatic lighting effects
here are 2 animations I did . the first one is a Iray one the second one i just completed using 3dl. to me using 3DL i can make animation clearer less pixalation . I also can render it much faster and use a lot more props with 3dl over iray .
Iray animation
3Delight animation
those are my reasons why I prefer 3dl over iray....For now anyway I am still learning iray Ive been working with 3dl for years
edit: opps forgot the animations comparisons..lol
...manual conversion can be a real PITA particularly for a large scene set, though when done, you can save it as a materials preset afterwards.
Ivy: Cutouts? Are you sure you have the most up to date script? One of the big goals with that script is not having to redo all the opacity maps?
yea I believe I have the latest version of the script i was using it the other night with the The ally set which is iRay only & I had to redo all the cut outs for the windows transpancy maps manually after i applied the script if you have the model set and you can try it yourself
okay I just went and looked at my project its not trans maps i had to replace the glass textures in the set . because the windows shaders came out blank after i used the conversion script. thats was what I had to re due.
aaah, yeah, if you have 'proper' refraction based glass, that becomes a problem.
Thankfully, in terms of scale, windows are usually not a hard subgroup to manage. One of the problems with a conversion is that you might want to use glass based on UberSurface, UberSurface2, AoA SSS, or some other thing (I vaguely remember at least one shader specially just for glass)
Yes that is what I was using before you guys put out that useful conversion script. I was using Omifreaker Uber shader pak and was using the simple shader conversion.. this script works great just some things still need a little tweaking not as much though as with out it .. its very helpful for those Iray only sets. especially other wise I would have had to remapped the whole thing
Well, I'm just planning a new series of images, so other than playing with the new light shaders, I haven't worked with Reflective Radiance much, but I fully intend to for this series. (It just needs a lot of planning and prep-work, since it's a Sorte deck for 7th Sea.)
I've played with it a bit, though, and I'm quite impressed with it. :) Certainly worth the money.
RRE3 test
Sharpen postwork only
UE2 dome + USoftLight Kit + AOA lights

Cool Effect. There is a nice glow on the face and body from the armor.
yes I see. It really does make sense to do these in 3DL. Let me know if you create any animations using Reflective Radiance. Would love to see that.
