Solved: Hair to move with head. (parent to what?)
Hello all.
Today's struggle.
Created a figure. Genesis 3. Using Mitsu Hair for Aiko.
The hair came in buried in the figures' body. I unparented hair to move it into place.
What do I do to lock that hair in place and have it move with her head?
I tried parenting the hair to her head, but as soon as I did it moved 3 feet above her head. lol.
When I parented it to the general figure, it moved down between her feet.
When she assumes any pose, she moves, the hair stays in place.
I searched this forum for a similar question and someone else did ask, but no one answered.
New search uncovered

When you parent the hair, select the head bone of the character, and make sure that the option "Parent in Place" is selected. That will make the hair stay in the assigned position.
You can actually parent the hair to the root node of the figure as well once you have it correctly positioned. As long as you check 'parent in place" as BeeMKay said, it will move with your figure. Note: it is often best to do this with the character (or at least the head and neck) in the zero pose position - that also makes it easier to manually fit it.
Do we also use this with weapons and holding objects?
I have a gun holster on the hip that moves out of place when the parent figure switches poses. I'm not sure if it's parented to the character, their leg or the clothing (i.e. tall boot that sits under the holster).
Maybe the thigh should be the parent...
Yes, this is a general principle that applies any time you parent one object to another. Especially if the parented object is set up to load into your scene away from the zero position.
Click on the holster to select it in the Viewport, then look at the Scene tab to see where the holster entry pops up. It sounds like it's been parented to the wrong part of the figure's body.
