Visual Style Shaders

I was looking at this product and was a little confused as to exactly what it is and how it works.  Do you create the scene with characters, props etc the apply the shader?  Are the shaders applied to the entire scene or can you select what gets the shader? Also, how would you use this in Iray, can you convert using the usual converters?

    What's Included and Features

    • Visual Style Shaders Features
      • 14 Visual Style Skin Presets (.DSB)
      • 15 Visual Style Hair Presets (.DSB)
      • 48 Visual Style Colour Presets (.DSB)
      • 12 Bonus Noir Presets (.DSB)
      • Visual Style Preset Script, For Creating Presets To Share (.DSE)
      • Full 17 Page Documentation (.PDF)

It sounds like you add the skin shaders to the skin, the hair shaders to the hair, etc. As for the rest of the scene, I don't know. Also, I'm pretty sure the product is 3Delight only.

I'm sorry I can't be more help, I don't own the product. Thought it is on my wish list. :)

You know, I really need to go to bed because the product features didn't make sense until I saw you bulleted list.  My desktop computer is in the shop so I'm using my tiny laptop now. Thanks

Visual Style Shaders, Manga Style Shaders, PWToon and so on were made to make it easier to get manga / comic book style renders.. They all have shaders for every part of a scene in the case of VSS you have Skin, Hair, shaders and colour preset shaders for everything else..

They were designed mainly to be used in 3Delight since that was the only renderer in Studio at the time when this product came out and well since Iray is intended more for realistic looking type renders..

Other than that do not know, but personally I would use the renderer they were designed for since it is part of Studio but that is just me..

Here's an example- I used the shaders on the "group shot" from our old L5R High School Anime game.  (Only ask if you want one of those long "let me tell you about my character" type posts.  It can't be explained easily.) Some are used with textures, some use the solid colors (mostly the ghostly background images)

    These are all Genesis 1

Any chance, we'll get an update to this product?  I've been using the crap out of it.  One of my favorites.  You can check out my gallery under Super Heros to see what I've done with it.  One of my top buys.
