Wet and Tanned Skins for Genesis 3

Hello,

I have been working on the Brayden mat and created a very pale skin that I am very happy with.

I decided to experiment with the Wet & Tanned Skins, and this is what I have observed after a short trial of the Wet settings.

First, so long as you read the instructions both the wet and the tan parts are pretty easy to use.

Second, the "Wet Only" changed, as in darkened, the skin I was working on.

Third, some of the inner fine detail of the skin is lost, e.g. the veins that show through the skin.

Forth, in my opinion it looks pretty good if used at a medium setting to give an "oiled up" look, at a lower setting to give a lightly sweaty look, and at a higher setting to give a wet look.

In each case it is best viewed from moderately close up to some distance away. To me it appears a bit less convincing viewed right close up.

Additionally, a big plus appears to be that rendering characters with this applied seems to be much faster than without it being applied.

A final point, most of what this product does could be done by adjusting the various surface settings, and with great skill, care and time it might well be possible to do better than using this product. However, I know from experience what a frustrating and hit and miss process this can be, so if you want pretty good results without too much difficulty you might give it a try.
