Problems with installing free stuff from other sites?
in New Users
I've just started using DAZ 4.9, and having load of fun with it.
However, I'm unable to install free DAZ stuff from other sites such as Renderosity, ShareCG, etc. Despite putting the unzipped folders in the correct places in 'My DAZ 3D' folder (as far as I can determine), they do not appear in any menu when I boot up DAZ. This specically applies to poses and props that I've tried installing.
I'm using MAC OS Sierra, and not sure if that is causing a problem. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Sonny

Here's a short tutorial in the 11th post from the top: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/64433/how-do-i-get-my-freebie-content-into-my-daz-program#latest
This type of content would usually show up in the Content Directory, rather than Smart Content.
From my own experience, I can recommend making separat install folders for Non-DAZ-Shop content. It's easier to keep track of things when you are installing/upgrading, and in case you want to delete stuff, it's also easier to find it.
Thanks, Bee! I'll check the tutorial, and also try the Content Directory.
One possibility; are you putting DAZ|Studio-format files into the Poser Runtime Library folder, or Poser files into the D|S Content folder? You can't mix formats like that, the files will be invisible in the Content Library pane. You must only put D|S files into a D|S location, or Poser files into a Poser location.
Matching and then merging/copying the subdirectories of the product zip to the Daz 3D | Studio | Library subdirectories should be an obvious task, as I have read and watched a number of YouTube tutorials that accomplish it. Trouble is, even after purchasing and using the DIM to install many product items, I still don't seem to have a subdirectory structure that matches those arleady set up and ready to be matched/merged to. I cannot find a subdirectory called Runtime, nor one called Content. Attached is a screen capture of what my structure looks like. Shouldn't one of these directories have all those categories already listed? And even if I want to create my own library, perhaps called "Third Party Freebees", shouldn't one of the existing libraries have all the categories already there I can model my own on? What am I missing here?
...just to reiterate.... shouldn't I have at least one Runtime or Content or Smart Content subdirectory visible under Documents | Daz 3D | Studio ....to match up with these subdirectories in my freebee zip files?
