Can you make Instances of Groups?

I'm trying to create a hurricane using Stonemason's clouds arranged in concentric circles. I can create instances of a cloud and arrange them in a circle, then put this "ring" in a group, but I can't seem to create further instances of the group. Just the original cloud shows up. Is thre a way to do that? My thought is creating an array of these cloud rings and setting them rotating at different rates to simulate the eye of a hurricane.

No, Instances are - to the best of my knowledge - limited to items with geometry.
