Why does the "Install Manager" first-run automatically download & install things without permission?

So first I installed the Daz Studio software. Then I installed the "Install Manager" from my product library.

But after I entered my login information into "Install Manager", this program just went into business for itself. It began this huge download & install binge. It went so far as to re-download & re-install the Daz Studio software itself (even though I had already installed from the manual installer). To make matters worse, it did not use the custom content folder I set when installing Daz Studio. It put everything in the default C: drive content folder.

Really, all I wanted was the ability to click the "Download & Install" button on specific items in the Product Library. Is there any way to prevent this program from going haywire on first-run? I have to install Daz on my other computer as well, but don't want the "Install Manager" just downloading everything & re-installing Daz Studio.

  • You may need to open a support ticket to ask this as it affects only new systems, or even only new accounts, so there is a limited pool of people who an help and each of those may be able to run only one test.

This is one of the more annoying features of using DIM and DAZ|Studio; the two programs do not talk to each other about locations for installed content. If one of them is set up for using a custom folder location, the other must be set up for the same location manually.
