Can I make multiple objects Y-Rotate only instead of "Point At?"

edited January 2017 in New Users

Okay, so basically I have a crowd of low-rez characters that I want to Y Rotate automatically at a single object for series of individual images.

The "Point At" parameter makes the Y-Axis point at an object, which plants my characters face-down into the floor when pointed at my "focal null" (when it's in front of them) which I wish to X and Z Translate at floor level.

If I parent my figures to a secondary null pointed at my "focal null"..,. when I start X/Z Translating my focal null, their Z and X rotations are affected and the characters begin to wobble side-side and back-forth.  I can set those parameter limits to zero, but that only simulates the effect and only at a certain range.

Can I get my figures to "face" a mobile point without manually Y-rotating each of them?

Thanks

  • Check Casual's posts in the Freebies forum - I'm pretty sure he has a scriptt o cotnrol the facing of items.

  • Thanks, Richard!  That's what I need!

The script I found was made for flat Billboards, when I Oriented the characters they all faced PRECISELY the opposite direction. lol, but I have plenty of RAM to create invisible billboards with appropriate Y-Rotates to parent all the figures to, so it'll do the job!
