Hello, Possible new user here

I was looking at your product and had a few questions before i actually attempt to download this..

Is it as free as they say? (ive heard people say that using their models costs a lot even if theyre edited and i didnt see much on custom models if thats even a thing) and would i be forced to pay anything if i was to basically just make a cg cartoon for fun and put it on youtube? I'm afraid to actually make something then get charged for sharing it with friends or moving it into another program like blender. i looked for some of the info but i either kept missing it or something. also.. would any characters i make then be owned by Daz?

    The Daz Studio Pro program is free. It comes with basic human models for free. A few clothes and props are free. Other content (character shapes, skin colors, clothes, accessories, environments, etc.) are for sale in the store and are not free. Nothing you create from scratch in a modeling program like blender is owned by Daz, but if you export a Daz model to blender and change it, you can not claim the model as your own, because the basic mesh is still a Daz Asset. You can post any 2D render or animation of Daz products online like on Yutube, but you cannot make games that use the 3D mesh without purchasing the proper licenses. There is no charge by Daz to post any 2D renders or animations online. This is a very simplified summary of the rules. Please read the EULA for more specific answers to your questions.

    If you're looking to make original content then Blender is your best bet.  Daz3D is NOT a modeling program.  You might also check this out... http://www.manuelbastioni.com/manuellab.php  ;

    Here's a couple of ongoing discussions here about using Blender with Daz3D...

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/67464/getting-objects-from-blender-to-ds#latest

    Blender enjoys a huge and wildly enthusiastic community and has (unlike Daz3D) a huge, massive number of free tutorials and guides, many of them are quite excellent.   There's so much material available that it's almost overwhelming.   Here's the link to a 'training' version of blender...

    It can be, but it's not the software's primary (or intended) focus. If modelling is what you want to do, then other software may be a better choice. DS lacks a number of features usually found in modelling programs.

    If, however, you do want to try modelling with Daz Studio, there's a tutorial (not free) that may be of interest: http://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-modeling

    Why do people suggest Daz 3D for modelling? Daz 3D is a company that's mostly focused on Daz Studio and its content, but it does produce other software as well, including the modelling program Hexagon: http://www.daz3d.com/hexagon-2-5-download-version (currently available for sale; you might see some outdated info online claiming it is free). Or perhaps because Daz Studio is software that allows you to work with and render 3D models...so in that sense it's related to modelling...
