Rendering Automatically Stops At Two Hours

No matter what percentage of the picture is complete.  Usually, this doesn't result in that much of a problem, but occasionally things get fuzzy.  Is there a way to control this?

Yes! The progressive render settings in your Render Settings tab. By default it's set to 7200 seconds max time (two hours). Set quality settings to "off" and set the time in seconds to go as long as you want, and it will keep going until then or until it reaches the maximum samples (also a number you can change, 5000 by default).

  • Changing the settings for Max Tim from 7200 to 0 will also let it go until your max samples and convergence occur.  You can up the convergence if you need to do that.  My default settings include upping the Max Samples to the 10000, set Max Time to 0 and increase the Quality to 2.  All of that will make your image continue rendering until it is clear.  I can usually stop it early if it looks good but there are times when I've had to let it run the maximum number of iterations over 15000.  It all depends on the render.
