Daz connect: Installed = No. Is that correct?

Every item I have says "Installed: NO" under Daz connect in Info Pane. Do i need to R-click and install all products so it reads "Installed: yes"?

I tryed R-click install on Genisis package and it seemed like it wrote 3000 files to pc.

Genisis items always worked for me before. Why did i install them again?

Do i need to install all items for daz connect to read installed?

How have i used program all this time with nothing installed?

I need simple easy way to look at this.

  • I read the faq for daz connect. i think i get it now.

I was thinking i might be missing out on meta data / smart content functionality if installed: = NO.

Now i understand if I install a product using daz connect it just makes extra copies that can update.

    thanks

  • Installed means Installed with Connect - there are advantages, such as updates downloading only chnaged files, to using Connect but using DIM should work the same, and should show items with coloured icons to show they are available.

  • I really messed things up.

I deleted the genesis and genisis2 packages data/cloud files that i made today. I didnt want the extra 50,000 files.

Smart content window items like Basic Male gave a pop-up saying duf file missing. But its there.

So I reset DB using content DB menu.

Now smart content window shows White pictures. like everything needs installed using daz connect.

All year i had colored picture icons in smart content menu.

    Everything worked good.

Now im stuck using Content library.

Can i fix this without adding 50,000+ extra files Daz connect is asking for?

  • I think I fixed it.

I Re-imported metadata and all the Smart content items are in color and work.

The icons all say new on the corner like i installed them. thats ok. Probably something i did earlyer.

    Thanks for looking.

    Alls good

Have you tried re-importing meta-data yet? Right click on the content library tab, select "Content DB maintenance" and then use the option "Re-Import meta data...". That should sort out some of your issues. Another option is to login using Daz Connect, when you do it'll download and optionally update metadata as well which might also sort some things out.

Hope this gives you some ideas.
