recently saved files not opening

My recently saved files are not opening & I'm getting this prompt/pop up notification telling me to check the "lof file" for details... which isn't at all helpful. I've uninstalled & reinstalled the program....no fix. I'm wondering if I need to reset it to defaults but I'm not exactly sure how to go about that. Any help would be greatly apprecaited.

Not sure what the problem is, however you can find the log file by selecting from the menu: Help > Troubleshooting > "View log file".

You want to look near the end of the file for the most recent information.  It's not really designed for the end user so it will be pretty cryptic, but possibly you might be able to get a clue as to what the problem is by looking at it.  I forget if you need to exit to be able to always read the very end (in previous versions of DS the last of the buffer wasn't always flushed until exit, unsure if that's still true.)

thanks sriesch, I've looked inot the log file and, yea, cryptic...it doesn't really help at all. Would still like to reset the program to it's default settings though, as I'm sure it's user error that created the issue to begin with. Thanks though, happy holidays :)

Are you sure you saved scenes and not some kind of preset? That error is typical of loading a preset without having a target item loaded and selected.

I can load a scene I've previously created, save it, & I will get the same pop up

I can even see the thumbnail, but it refuses to open for some reason

What does the log say? Does the thumbnail in the content pane have an overlay showing the type (according to the database)?

since it seems that the dates are whacky in the log file, do I check the top or the bottom for most recent activity ?

the thumbnail just says 'scene' in the upper right corner as I have it saved as scene

What is the full version of Studio you are running?  (Help > About Daz Studio)

The bottom of the log file is most recent...it appends to the end.

Well, not very helpful. Could you upload one of the affected files, with a note of the content used (though even if we don't have the right items we should at least get grey blocks rather than a vague errro message).

The file won't fully unzip, so I'm afraid the issue is probably that there was an error saving it: if that is the case then regrettably there's probably nothing to be done. If only to make Daz aware that there is a potential issue you might want to open a Technical Support ticket attaching the files and your log file so they can be looked at. I would advise not compressing your sceen files as a safety precaution, at least while working on them.

I tried to load your file but it does not work for me in 4.9 or 4.9 Beta

I get :
