Good fantasy/midieval period area rug?

Looking for one. Preferably free and Iray of course, but not necessary. :) With the Week Before Christmas sale, I didn't see one but only have had time to go through a dozen pages or so. Anything there, or elsewhere in the Daz store?

If we are talking about Europe during the Medieval period, "rugs", or floor carpets, would have been extremely rare, and when found were more likely to be used as wall hangings. Since carpets were introduced into Europe from the Middle East following the Crusades, most carpets of the late Medieval or early Renaissance would feature patterns and motifs of Oriental carpets familiar to this day. So, basically you could use any image of a carpet of Oriental or Middle Eastern design (that doesn't have copyright restrictions) and use it to texture a simple rectangular prop for your purposes.

Further to the foregoing, here are some options, available rather inexpensively if you are a PC+ member ($1.99), but, better yet, they are part of the listings of the Christmas Week Bonus Selections, available for free! Sorry, no Iray materials, but you could use an Iray fabric shader with the texture maps to produce the desired results.

Good point on the rugs. Shaded Santuary is part of that Arabian Royalty Bundle that came out recently. it has rugs in it. Might also want to check some of the other Middle Eastern Bundles as well as the tent bundles. There are a few. Might be some area rugs in the interior/living room bundles as well.They can always be reshaded if needed.

Shows what I know about the Midieval period!  I guess Fantasy genre can be anything goes though.

I didn't know either until they showed up in a search and I actually looked very closely at them in the promos. Surprised me! I think rugs are easy to miss since they're under foot, LOL

The Dream Home series over in the PC+ collection has a number of various rugs for the various roomsets. The original ones with the geometry are mostly fairly contemporary in style. But Moyra's Ecclectic Dream Home addons are nearly all in the "oriental" style.

For that matter, if you're a member, checking through the PC+ collection is an excellent resource for furniture props.
