Rendering setting

What are the best render setting for me if I don't have an NVIDIA graphics card?

DS is currently rendering from my CPU - RENDER SETTINGS; photoreal devices and interactive devices.

    If you don't have a Nvidia card, then CPU rendering is your only option.

    I recommend setting Engine to 3Delight. It's much faster than Iray (until you get Nvidia card).

    Not necessarily. Good lighting and lots of transmaps can make 3dl very slow.

    In my experience Mesh lights seemed slower to render than other lights in Iray, HDRI and sun and sky seemed the fastest, make sure your scene is well lit.

    One thing I used to do was render the whole scene, and small parts that needed rendering longer like faces I would render a small spot render for longer and combine in photoshop.

    Good point! I've noticed that darker scenes are a bit more grainy in iray, even after 5000 iterations. Still practising lighting techniques.
