Tooltip question/suggestion

Hey, sorry if I am asking a stupid question, but is it possible to have a tooltip for the parameters on panes like the render settings? For example, there are literally hundreds of sliders to tweak all with very sensible names (once you understand what they do). But if you don't know what they do, the sensible way to learn is to dial it up and try to see what difference it makes. Of course, those of us with slower machines and little knowledge might just pump up settings that will dramatically increase rendering time and cause frustration.

If we could hover over something like "cm^2 Factor" (for example) and a little sentence appeared saying what it did then we might feel more in control of the program.

I know what I am suggesting might require an enormous effort to put into a new version, but I think that it would make the application sooo much more approachable and user friendly.

How about it? Possible?

  • It would be possible to write an interactive tutorial to go though the properties, though a lot of work. Adding tool-tips as such to parameter sliders is not currently supported and would require a lot of changes - you also need to bear in mind that at the level you want the tool-tip would be shader-specific and so would have to be added by the shader author, if Daz added tool-tip functions for parameters.

I imagined that it would be so. I think if the option was added so that the developers could add their own you'd probably get inconsistencies as some develops might not be active enough to come bain.and add them in.

Perhaps then, if somebody could make a video for a youtube channel, maybe that would help the average users be more efficient and successful with their renders. Personally I find it trial and error most of the time and a resource like this might just improve my 'workflow' as it were
