will you be considered a noob for using Daz or Poser?

i know many artists render their arts in Blender, Zbrush, Maya and looks amazing.  etc....I'm still new in CG. if i share with other people knowledgeable in arts outside of Daz/Poser community about my hobby in DAZ/Poser will i be called noob/second/third class artist? Or would i still be considered an artist at all? Thanks for any feedback

Amongst the Blender folks, you'll probably be okay.  The others...let's just say that they should look in the mirror before they start slinging around mud.

There's 'tool snobbery' that exsists and it can be pretty ugly, but remember it isn't the tool that makes art.  It is the person using the tool...and that's all these programs are...tools.  Each one has its strengths and weaknesses, but each one is capable of producing fantasitc images (of course there is the flipside...they are also capable of producing pure, unadulterated rubbish, too).

Always thought its abit like a painter belittling photographer for using a camera instead of brush. Its just plain old elitism and it should be ignored.

I am not sure why you say Noob  videoninja719  I have been using Bryce since 1997 and Poser since 1998,  so I am far from being a Newbie.  It's not about being new with some people; it is ,as MJC says, simple snobbery.  Their app costs ten times what yours did so they must be more professional than you at what they are doing.   I am happy with what I do, regardless and I still think that Bryce rocks  (other daz 3d Programs are available)

Edited to add :-  One program you didn't mention is Hexagon. There are PAs who sell in the store here (and probably elsewhere as well) who use Hexagon to produce their products. Hexagon was at one time availalbe at 100% discount, and even now is far below it's original purchase price. That doesn't make the products in the store worth any less.

Honestly, if you are happy with the results, who cares what tool you used? smiley

I agree with everyone else. If the certain program they use is what gives them self esteem and worth as a human being, they have my sympathy and permission to call me a noob. This is a hobby, not a way of life.
