having the same problem-see here for the advice I was given: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/132456/ds4-9-reinstallation-hangs-on-cms-install#latest
What did seem to help was going into install manager, uninstalling PostgreSQL CMS, and then reinstalling it, (not the conversion from Valentina one, the other one).
ty!
i ended up copying the dsstudio4 folder, then hit cancel, when it finished deleting the folder i pasted it back in, then ran the cms installer.
started ds, then did the import metdata for good measure.
so far so good, running offline. cant believe i'm up to date with the latest ds version.
i guess is way too late for the free encrypted content?
I'm not sure why you wiould need to reisntall the CMS, nor whay it would take a long time - unbless you were previosuly using Valentina. I'm also not happy about the idea of deleting and pasting stuff, though it does sound as if the reisntall came last so you should have the current version of files.
On some systems, depending on which Visual C runtimes are natively installed, the Postgre Installer will 'hang' at that point. I'm pretty sure that it's because the window asking for permission for the Visual C runtime to be installed is not showing up. It's a very system specific thing and should probably have a ticket filed for it.
In Install Manager, both the main PostgreSQL CMS and the one with "conversion from Valentina" were showing as installed. After I uninstalled both and reinstalled the main one while the DS4.9 installer was still hung up on the "installing CMS" phase, the rest of the DS4.9 installer started working properly, running the Visual C++ package and so on.
I can only assume that at some point IM was supposed to have uninstalled "conversion from Valentina" as part of a CMS update and this was causing problems.
The Conversion tool did its stuff when it was installed (made a PostgreSQL version of the Valentina database). The think that's installed is just a marker so you don't try tio run the process twice, it is not active in any way.
that was the problem!!!
already had postogre up, running, and working with the ds4.8 install.
the ds4.9 upgrade should!!
come with !!
don't install cms tickbox !!
cms hung 4.9 install over 4 hours, until i hit cancel!!
cancel made it delete the dazstudio4 files
4.9 installer has *no* option to """NOT""" install cms
