Difficulty in buying product

I put in "M4 posing Mil horse". I get over 1500 returns. Things like cats, steam dragons, and little soldiers. It take a lot of valuable time to flip through all of these dead ends. What should I put in if I just want to see poses that work with M4 and the Mil Horse?

I would like to use the Native village content with Genesis figure. Is this possible? I need long hair for the Indian figure but I hate fighting with the hair fitting problems of M4.

Sure you can use the set ... Genesis is about the same size as M4.

For poses I tend to use Google and add 'sharecg.com' to the search list.

There are a handful of very gifted pose creators who've been very generously giving away poses there.

In the shop you can also browse subcategories. For the poses you're looking for i'd try Shop --> Animation&Poses; --> Animals

Yes! That's how to find 'em :-)

    Okay ... there's one set with bareback riding poses for V4 with milhorse;

http://www.daz3d.com/shop/animations-poses/animals/victoria-4-equestrian V4 and M4 poses are usually interchangeable, possible minor tweaking required.

The rest appear to be either just horse alone poses or includes poses with the previous generation of figures such as M3. Now those poses may work with some tweaking or they may not. Also right now none of them are on sale.

Are there V4/M4/Gn characters that come with the hair already on? Almost all of them are advertised with hair on but it is hard to find characters with head hair than genital hair. Since most healthy people have hair, it would seem that hair would come with the figure. It could be detachable etc. but hair that just worked with a figure would be useful. What am I missing?

You normally have to buy hair as a separate product.

Or work your way through Kerya's list of freebie stuff, to see if there is anything that suits in that list.

http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/447/ She doesn't miss many freebies I can assure you.

If you go to the Store page, and use the search term 'Hair' you will find loads of them.

On the Product Description, it will tell you what figure(s) the hair has been designed to fit, like...

    Compatible 3D Figures

    Michael 4, The Kids 4, Hiro 4

If hair came as part of a character, it would make the itme very expensive indeed, and if you bought the item with a particular hair, it may not fit to other models as well, which is the whole point. Some hair for example, has fits for V4, A4, M4, H4 K4 and even Genesis too. It is a much better idea to buy the hair that you like, and apply it to a model you also like.

Everyone has hair, it's true (more or less, in my case less), but it does not all look the same. There is nothing to stop you from buying a hair item each time you buy a new character, but it might work out to be very expensive.

You make valid points. However, I am not asking that ALL content come with hair. But if you put out a base figure like an Mt with and without Gn. Seems you could just as easy do the same with hair. The hair could be dialed to make longer shorter etc in the parameters tab. If you wanted it to be bald, click the bald check box or instal the hairless version.

The example you give are for the hair. What I need is for the figure. I.e., I need the figure to say "has been tested and works easily with this hair :-). I am finding I spend way to much time "shopping" for content. Then I find something I like and it doesn't work with the figure. Really puts a cramp of creativity when you spend hours try to "buy" something.

I hope this is understood as a discussion rather than a rant.

More specific, does anyone know of braided hair for M4? I need the Native to look more traditional instead of like an Italian just out of the barber shop.

I can't get the Cheyenne content to work from the Daz library. It shows up but will not load. It loads fine from the Poser library. Doesn't work with Gn.

The DAZ parts of this are only textures, you have to load the objects from Poser Formats > My Library > Figures as they are probably in CR2 format. Have you looked there?

Load the item, then go to the DS formats to load the DS optimised materials, unless they are from a unified installer, in which case the icons for the materials will have a little scroll icon in the top left corner.

Which Cheyenne item is it in particular (link)

Yes, Daz Studio also uses "poser files" ... indeed can even make them.

Okay. In the physical folders on your computer: under "My Library" there is a folder called "Runtime". Inside that is another folder called "libraries". Inside that is another folder called "Pose".

From all those folders [which are ultimately for poses] from sharecg.com ... unzip them. Find the folder inside called 'Pose'. Move the folder(s) inside of them to inside the Pose folder under Libraries under Runtime under My Library on your computer.

Open D/S4.5, in the "Content Library" under Poser formats > My Library > Pose > Name of folder(s) you just put in there.

    You're welcome.

Also: "buy" this plugin. It's free.

    http://www.daz3d.com/shop/poser-format-exporter-pfe

You'll need it to save your own pose files from time to time as well ;-)

And the instruction page for it is here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/6869/

Does anyone know of a morph set that will give me an old person?

Morphs are created for very specific characters.

So, exactly which figure are you wanting a morph for? M4, Genesis, V4, etc. ?

Is there a way to dial in different skin shades like adjusting the morphs? I know I can get different skin "textures" but I need to adjust them?

To adjust skintone do this, in Diffuse change the tone from the base color to an off-color. You can lighten it and darken it by changing the color in the diffuse channel.

This will be under your surfaces tab.

I seem to recall a morph for an older man's face for Genesis over at sharecg.com

BUT HEADS UP EVERYBODY .... in Google searches for this ... BE CAREFUL to go to proper sharecg.com links only.

There's another website which appeared on the search result page and I just spent time making sure all the **((*((^ was cleared off the computer. Oh man there's gotta be a special H**(*(* for those guys.

It was "green" as per WOT on Firefox. It was my fault, I had the wrong setting chosen for the AV so while it told me about it, it didn't stop it.
    That has been remedied.

A file that APPEARS to be a .zip [and I have show hidden extensions but ...] downloads to wherever one's files download to. [don't forget to clear the temp folders] It's not a .zip; it's an .exe file. It's a trojan.

I also ran a manual W7 search for the name of the file but no extensions and found 2 internet shortcuts to call home for the goodies eh.
One for IE and one for FF.

To be clear, all I had done was click on the url link, I had NOT asked for any downloads. Just clicking on the link for the website which has "iamnetizen" in its url will get this trojan on your computer.
The name of the files to scan for and DELETE all start with "daily_old_sharecg".

Yes, there will be a new morph set that will let you adjust features to make an elder. Hopefully it will be out by the end of December, with luck.

You can also make an older looking character by applying older-looking skins with wrinkles.
