Millennium Cat

Has there never been an upgraded cat for DAZ? I can only find the original Millennium Cat. I'm not talking about the Big Cats (lions, tigers, oh my!), but regular little house cats. The Millennium Cat is okay in the distance, but it's not very ralistic close up. Am I just not seeing something newer in DAZ or has there never been upgraded cats and dogs?

We have been told that the main animal PA at DAZ, ie Alessandro AM, is working on a new cat, dog and other critters. Both himself and one of the DAZ guys confirmed this back in September, there is a long thread all about it around somewhere. However no sign of them yet, so I guess issues may have arose that delayed the release.

And isn't there some fur for the mil cat that makes it look more realistic?  I always meant to buy that but don't think I have it.

Hello, indeed working on those but not quite ready for release yet. Next in line and about done will be several rodents, followed by felines and later on canines.

When yo do canines would you consider including a Cocker Spaniel (preferably buff or blonde)? I have been looking for one for almost ever.

...for the cat we need a Manx morph/shape, a peak nose Persian (the "pug" of cats), as well as a Maine Coon and Norweigian Forest Cat.

AM, are you still planning on the 'universal quadruped'?

So rodents, followed by felines, followed by canines. Sounds like the natural order to me. The cats chase the rats. The dogs chase the cats.

Not a universal quadruped per-se, because it wouldn't properly allow to cover all possible species, but a series of Polymorph meshes, one for each animal family. So one for all the rodents, one for all the felines (and perhaps will include canines too as well, since the morphology isn't too different), one for Ursidae, Bovinae, one for birds and some dinosaurs, and so on. Massive design, modeling, texturing, rigging, fur process, reason why I haven't posted anything relevant yet because I am developing all these models concurrently. But when things will come, brace yourselves!

I don't need to brace myself; but I may need to underpin my wallet.

I almost hesitate to ask but will this new set of beasties work in any other programs besides Daz Studio?

Sounds wonderful.  Just please don't forget Mustelids (Ferrets, weasels, Otters(!!!) etc.) :)

I'd like a "Yorkshire terrier" (small dog, preferably caramel or blonde) morph for the Mil Pup in my Christmas stocking or under the DAZ tree, thank you!

Mustelids too indeed, infact I already have a Polymorph base mesh done for those too!

Are men allowed to fangirl? I mean, I am already losing a lot of man-points playing dress-up with my many virtual dolls, I am not sure I can afford any more...

Ah, dang it, fangirling in process:

    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I do not think, that Millenium Cat looks so bad. Below is a Daz Studio iray render of Millenium Cat.

... and another iray render with the simple fur created in Blender and made conforming by using Transfer Utility in Daz Studio.

The cat was converted to weight mapped prior to the creation of the fur in Blender.

The Millenium Cat has already Fur material zone, so it can be used for own experiments with different furs.

This post has some .pdf documents of pictures attached using the Millennium Cat with fur shaders I used.

...it's not so much the "look" (eg, texture and fur) as it is in some poses, even ones created specifically for Mil Cat, there is unnatural distortion of various joints.
