POV (point of view) Camera Setup

I have set up a scene with various characters and wanted to switch between them to show what they can see. e.g. UK TV Programme Peep Show. I have manually created a camera and moved it into place, made the head invisible (along with all of the sub items) in order to set it up, but this seems a little long winded and inefficient. I am hoping that in my naivety I am not doing something simple.

Is there a way to create (and lock) a camera to the head of a character, so when I move their head to look at something, the camera will point that way too?

Thanks :)

Select the camera and place it the way you want (where the head is, maybe a bit before the face so you don't get into conflict with the surfaces), then right click. "Parent to", select the Character in the scene tab, click on the triangle that unfolds the bones. Select from the bones the "head" bone. Make sure that "Parent in place" is selected.

Yeah, this is what I did, but hoped there would be a way to do it when I add the camera. I noticed there was an option to copy the active view and didn't know if it was possible to copy the head. Not to worry. Maybe this is a feature that can be added in future. e.g. a plug in to make cameras for each figure

Actually, rather than adding a camera maybe business like DAZ 3D and Unity could make it such that meshes that are labeled eye would have a on/off switch for camera mode. There could design VR vision perpective for people and critters that way.

It always seems odd having these game engines with these 1st person perspectives yet you have to add a camera and parent it to the 1st person to get it to work when they have eyes and a head modeled already. It's not like the camera SW object is actually a physical camera model that is seen in the game.

No need to get rid of cameras but no reason characters not to treat as if they have vision that can be used as a camera from their perspective.

That's an interesting idea actually. I do wonder if it is something that could be created, even by one of the many content partners. You'd like to think that there was a way of scripting the process so it could be done automatically.

Let's hope the universe is listening to the idea and makes it happen
