  • considering the issues my friend Garstor has getting DAZ content into Lightwave, I would not be too hopefull, he uses V4 and the interposer plugin, AFAIK there is no D|S equivalent.

I am only going by that, cannot say for myself but one reason I have so far resisted the Carrara to Lighwave sidegrade.

Not so sure,  I know that Val over at Dreamlight uses Lightwave a lot when it comes to sets.

you could ask on the LW's forum about plugins.

but plugs half to keep up with up grades so can't upgrade till plugs ready

mesh .obj is universal all CGI 3D app's use .obj .axis is not so u might load sideways.

textures .jpg ,.bump is universal all CGI 3D app's use .jpg ,.bump

normals not so much 50 50 chance

rigs only work fof that app you can export .fbx for animattion dont know about morphs n all the face bones.

anyways there's a lot to consider I'd do a lot of testing to see if it works.

I own Lightwave and use it all the time with G3F. What exactly do you want to do? The one thing I find annoying is that it doesn't set the diffuse texture on the right property (when exporting .obj from DAZ and importing it into LW). So you have to move it to the right property and adjust the glossiness and specularity. But that's not such a big deal. You have to set up the surfaces yourself anyways in Lightwave if you're rendering. But I've done UV, morphs, animations, etc. in Lightwave with G3F.

  •  I suspect she wants them in  rigged with morphs, most things will import obj, if someone can confirm how well that works it might be helpful to others like me who have considered Lighwave too, so far I have not heard good  results for using premade rigged DAZ figures, most rerig them in Lighwave.

rigging and morphs would be nice, lol.

colladae export seems to preserve the basic rig, but all morphs are lost.

MistyMist ok, yes, AlienRenders is correct. I do modeling in Lightwave but have thus far never needed to import a Daz character into LW, but I did go through the process, and as AlienRenders said, it does work fine. There are things you will have to learn concerning the materials and a few other things, but yeah, works great. And if you purchase LW, enjoy,......it's a very nice & powerful piece of software. If you have not yet, check out some of the fly-through reels.

i heard they offer a competitive upgrade from carrara
