How do you adjust fresnel on skin with 3DL?

I see variables for 'velvet'... is that fresnel in 3DL? I want to be able to adjust the sharpness and strength of outer skin sheen on a 3d person. Not plastic doll specular shine... but soft shine from a backlight on skin. Thanks for any help.

    Which shader...AoA or UberSurface?

  • Oh - I was scrolling down the parameters of 3DL material made for G3Male by Raiya. Probably AoA then?

Are Uber and AoA shaders adding more parameter dials than the basic DAZ4 set-up... or these are hidden parameters that AoA and UBER are making visible?

    thanks a lot!!

Those are new additions over the Daz default.  The default is really a rather basic shader.

And for the AoA one, no, Velvet isn't Fresnel.  Omnifreaker's UberSurface does have a Fresnel function, but it's more of a custom curve than an IOR driven one.

If your not doing close-ups, then subtle amounts of Velvet could be used to mimic the 'peach fuzz' on skin.
