IRAY render questions

Iray, 3delight are items that appear frequently in the newer content packs.

All the Daz3d content I purchase is for export to other applications, mostly to IClone, 3dcoat, or other application for video production,

What about Iray or other content for render?  By that I mean, when I am exporting content items using obj, fbx.

I notice there are updates to PC+ iteams that are identified as Iray updates.  Will it make a difference in the quality of the content items, when they are exported to Iclone?

Iclone uses Indigo render engine.  I don't know if Iray prepared content would make a difference.

Additionally, should I be concerned to buy IRAY updated content or use IRAY for my exports?

I never do renders in Daz3d, except for preplanning an export to check for poke through, or anomalies that aren't readily apparent.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can I do final renders in IRAY of my videos, by exporting video projects out of IClone as AVI,MOV,MP4 etc.?

This question might be better answered elsewhere. Gotta start somewhere.

  • Iray render settings won't help with an .obj export.

But some of the iray-addon sets (see individual sets for details) also include updated textures and normal maps (which could be applied in another program for rendering there)

You'd think eventually the Morph Character System under development by Morph 3D will be a good intermediary between DAZ Studio & it's content and any 3rd party non-DAZ tools you are using, including exporting the iRay / 3DL / OpenGL rendering settings. eg Unity will have a free version of the very popular & expensive OToy Octane Render Engine.

Morph 3D has an MCS Beta 2.0 in development.
