Nurnies Greebles Parts & Pieces by DzFire (UV Maps)

So, half "Daz support failed" complaint and half "what's going on here?"  Thread

This product, both 1 & 2, says,

"parts and pieces already modeled and uv mapped"

A UV map is like a blank texture "guide" so you can quickly make your own texture without having to figure it out on your own.  There are no UV maps in either of these products (I own them).

I messaged support, and asked them to find out from DzFire if they were made, and somehow just didn't end up in the product files.  After all, if s/he went to the trouble of making them, it'd be nice if we all had access to them.  Well, support closed the ticket and just added this line, "No Textures Included."  to one of the two products... but left in the description the UV map - which is not a texture.  They didn't edit Volume 1's description at all.

Does anybody know how to contact DzFire?  Some artists are on Deviant Art, but DzFire doesn't turn up anything non-Daz3d.com.  Also, Daz, please reconsider how you "resolved" this problem!

  • You are confusing UV mapping (telling the object how to wrap a texture around itself) and templates (an image showing how the mesh is mapped to the image plane). The models are the former, meaning they can take textures, but there's no claim that they have templates already.

  • If there's a normal map that comes with the model take the normal map, split the RBG channels. Use the red channel as a guide for painting your textures.

If not, make the model light grey. Set up 3 point lighting in Daz Studio. Bake textures. Use the baked textures as a guide for painting your textures.

Want to get really fancy, combine red channel with the baked textures and use that as a guide for painting your textures.

I purchased them just the other day. I only viewed the first half-dozen or so, but they all seem to be mapped. Did you select the material when you entered UV View?

Oops. It must be too late at night and I didn't have the surface selected. I tried again and they do indeed have UV maps. I have edited my post.

    Thanks for clearing that up!
