footprints in the snow

With Winterland on sale I was wondering if there is a convincing way to make footprints in the snow? Would Reprojector do the trick?

There's a Nerd3D product on the HiveWire site which may be what you want/need.
Not sure how Winterland is set up. In many cases, you can get footprints, tire tracks, and that sort of thing by creating a black/white image in your favorite photo editing software. Just copy/stamp your footprints to make the path. If Studio or whatever you are using allows displacement shading on objects, applying the image will raise the white areas and leave the black areas alone. Instant footprints through snow. Similarly, if the program like Bryce or Carrara uses greyscale heightmaps to generate terrains, white increases altitude and black does not. Does Studio have a displacement shader?
In DazStudio white raises, grey (RGB128, 128, 128) is neutral and black lowers ...

And yes, DS has displacement too

Displacement in 3DL is great. In Iray it's a bit more tricky (you need to subdivide the whole surface to get enough polys to move - 3DL will automatically alter the mesh at render time). Normal maps are better for Iray I gather.

Was trying to get footprints in sand, which should be pretty much the same process.
snow angels
!!!
I had no idea this was the case. The Iray team has made some radical choices.
I think some brushes to do this post work would be awesome.
look for someone called Spacebones on share cg. Way back towards the beginning of his items he has some foot prints, which I think he did in obj format as well as obp, so they can be used to make footprints using boolean techniques. http://www.sharecg.com/pf/full_uploads.php?pf_user_name=spacebones
