...is it me or is the Daz site software a real pain in the bum?

...OK tonight (well, early morning) I have seen nothing but endless swirlies on the store site. I refreshed the page, I cleared cache and it still persists..
Here on the forums the spell check does not flag words less than 4 letters so many if the common typos like "adn" "teh" "cna" are missed. When there is an error that it flags, often the suggestions have nothing to do with the word one intended to type.
This was supposed to be an "upgrade" which should mean a better user "experience", however, often it seems to have been the opposite of that.

SHIFT+CTRL+R
Does that do the same as f5 ? (refresh the page).
It's probably a server cache problem if that doesn't work. Nothing to do but wait.
It's not just you. I've never used the spellchecker, but the forum search facility would be funny if it wasn't so awful. I have to wonder what the people who put it there were thinking if it wasn't 'We need to be seen to have a search facility, but we've got a captive audience who aren't going anywhere so a properly functioning one isn't a priority for the forseeable'.
Yes, The problem is nowadays there are multiple layers of caching to get through. It may not be Daz Server, it could be a server on the way to the users ISP, or from the ISP to the user.
Do CTRL F5 - force your browser to refresh cache. Refresh can and does use what's cached.
I didn't know that - thanks :)
I installed TamperMoney to be able to run that add-on written by another forum member to be able to select and block products in the DAZ Store you don't want to see. Sort of like 'Hide Items I Own' but I can't figure out where in the browser UI I'm supposed to add those items to hide them.
This one's pretty high on my top ten "reasons why Magento was a horribly bad choice of store software". In the previous store, if an item's thumbnail download glitched there was at least something to click on that would still link to the proper store page. With Magento, the least little thing going wrong leaves us with useless swirlies affecting not just the thumbnail, but all the text associated with it. And with the way Magento tends not to display each day's new items in the same order twice running, it's even harder to tell if a page refresh has worked.
And don't get me started on CloudFlare; I look really silly with steam shooting out of my ears.
I have found a Firefox add-on that does a hard refresh by pressing F9 or its button on the toolbar if configured to refresh the current tab. I can look up its name when I get home. The purpose of the add-on is to clear the cache with one press of a key or a click on a button. There is an option to refresh the current tab. It is a life saver practically for me.
...I already have that one.
...and the Forums Search, oy, how useless.
I know the forum search is useless. I am trying to figure out what programs can open 3ds files (which appear to be popular for freebies) but I keep finding posts about 3dsublime instead.
for forum search - go to google/yahoo/favourite search engine and type:
site:daz3d.com/forums followed by whatever you want to search for
(allows you to search for abc AND xyz as opposed to the forum search which seems to be 'OR')
..ridiculous to have to do it from "outside" though. none of the other forums I am on require doing that to get more accurate results (even the old homegrown php site here, it even had fiters that worked).
Blender is one that will open 3DS and another if you can find it is a AutoDesk utility from 2013 called FBXConverter. It will only convert up to to, not surprisingly, FBX 2013 format. If you search for FBX Converter AutoDesk may have put out a new one by know but they stopped for a year and I haven't checked for a new one since.
Another easy 3ds importer...https://www.sharecg.com/v/47408/gallery/11/Poser/PropViewer-3.2
Its not you KK.
I agree - the old search was much better - the current one is useless.
The workaround is merely a 'this works' - I'd still like Daz to fix the on-site one.
Aye to that - a multi-word search, a wild card search, a date filter and a string search would be lovely to have.
...works pretty good
...one more point, why can't the spell check flag words with less than 4 letters? A dyslexic here who is getting tired of having to go back in edit mode to manually correct all the "teh", "hte", "adn" "cna" typos all the time.
