Hey guys,

I have some 3d models and I want to start selling them verses just sitting on my hard drive.  I was wondering if I could get with someone and team up with a creator who can get everything setup for DAZ  studio and in the store.  I can create the renders and the models.  Just need someone in the field of rigging.

My stuff is architectural and in POLYS.    So if you want to build some residuals to your alreayd successful store please let me know.

If architectural, does it really need to be rigged?? Most here are not. Would love to see some examples of your work.

To get people interested it would be best to show examples of your work in it's current format. If you want people to bite, you need to show them something so they can see roughly what potential there is.

Mainly doors, windows and elevators stuff I'd guess.

Agreed, but I have lots of architectural items for DS that have none of those moving parts which is why I asked

Yuh. I rig for other people all the time, but I need to see the pics.  Do you have your models UV mapped and/or textured?  If you're asking someone else to do all the UV mapping and/or texturing that's significant work; if you're just asking for someone to set up dufs and materials that's a bit less.

  • No it should all be uvmapped and textured.  Really just need someone to help me get it in the store and rigged for DAZ.

I'm actually working with a little team.  Here is some of the work.

We are not doing these in particular.    Actually we are doing a few themes.  I want my store here to be consistent.    We will be doing a "special" theme and have a few much needed props on this site.

So if anyone is interested please let me know.

This is just a start.  I'm wanted to see about getting this style of character both realistic and cartoony into a Genesis 3 figure.  So looking for someone who knows how to do this.  I've seen plenty of folks do these head fusions and such.  I would love to get this style of character especially the face and have it work with Genesis 2 or 3.

Here is another artist I'm working with.

  • Also what format do you prefer when working on a character to rig?  Can it be in .max, c4d?  or is it OBJ all the way?

First: those are nice-looking sets!  Really good work. :)

Second: It depends on the artist you're working with, but usually it has to be exported to obj.  Daz Studio's import of other formats is a bit inconsistent, and PAs use a wide variety of different softwares (only I think four or so have the $5k+ licensed software; I use Blender, a lot of coworkers use Hexagon, Silo, Mudbox, just a wide variety) but you're always all right with obj.

The furniture and architecture props are the sort of thing that is very doable but time-consuming.  Someone doing all the materials and setup for you and then doing all the renders is going to either want 50% of your brokered fee or a reasonably high hourly.  I assume you may be getting some offers via PM now that you've shown your renders.

You might be better advised to learn the engine and surface tab and do it yourselves, and then you're only splitting between your team and Daz.  I'm not able to take on a commitment the size of the one you're asking with my own projects where they are, but I could certainly teach one or more of you what you need to know in a relatively short amount of time, since it looks like you're already familiar with basics of rendering in one unbiased engine.  I can be PM'd here or on deviantart.

The humanoid figures are great looking but are probably not going to happen.  A rigged and textured character does not "port" to a Daz figure, it would have to just be completely redone on the new figure to look as much as possible like your original one. That's a very large work commitment and you're unlikely to see it from a third party.  Head grafts are not a trivial investment either.  You might be better advised to rig them for Unity directly and sell through their asset store instead, since they look like they'd be awesome for games use.

  • Thank you sickleyield.  I wish I saw more tutorials on doing places and props.  I have great modelers, just need DAZ riggers.  Plus a lot of the rigs I'm going to use myself in my own stuff so that is why I'm looking to sell.figures.

I'm going to be working on these environments so hope someone can help me.  Some will be smaller.  I'm doing the renders.  I have access to other renderers so that is not a problem.  I can make em pretty.

Tell me what do you think of the market?  Do you think there is good money to be made with realistic props, clothes and such?

Okay so now I'm looking for a rigger.  I have our first model ready to go.  Please let me know if you are interested.  Here is our first model.

I would certainly buy the VW bus. LOL And realistic props and sets are big right now. Better looking figures need better looking scenes to put them in ;).

Looks good, I can see a few uses for the VW also.

Personally as for other renderers, as a customer I don't want to see DAZ products rendered in apps other than what DAZ offers. I would rather see what can be accomplished inside DAZ and clay renders myself.

best of luck to you. Some great looking projects, hope to see them in the store soon!

Competition is stiff, but if you can produce good work quickly, absolutely.  (Your VW bus looks very nice.)  Clothes - clothes are probably the most difficult thing that we sell in terms of rigging.  There is slightly less competition in that area right now in terms of sheer number of artists for that reason.

  • Well I'm going to be creating a ton of realistic props.  I hope they sell well but in the meantime looking for a great rigger to help.

I personally think it will make some good money.

Does your bus have a full interior?

In the hobbiest market here which is centered around human figures, real world props and such need to be more complete and workable like in real life as customers need or want to do images with characters interacting with things.  Some exterior sets can get away with not having interiors and opening doors but smaller things not always.

  • Why yes it does have an internal setup with TV, bed and shelves.  It is pretty complete.

I would certainly buy the VW,  especially if a wild hippy era texture was available for it :)  I'd be of no help rigging but wish you luck and hope to see your stuff in Daz store soon!

  • Hello everyone.  Do you know of any riggers I can hire?  I have great models coming down the pipeline but need riggers.  Is it possible to hire any of you guys or do you have any recommendations?  I ain't rigging these myself.  I would rather pay or partner with someone.  I got a great amount of models coming that are just as awesome as the VW.

If no one has offered via PM at this point you may be out of luck.

Rigging is the second most tedious skill set in our market (I'm inclined to rank it second to coding, but only Draagonstorm really knows the answer to that :D) and the one that most people learn last, even the simpler rigging of doors that open and wheels that turn.  People that are the best at it are probably overcommitted, and not that many people want to skip the fun part of a project ( the modeling and texturing) to do the boring part (the rigging and setup).

I've done it in the past, but it's a chore, and splitting three ways (50% to Daz, 25% to you, 25% to your rigging/setup/rendering person) increases the risk to reward ratio of any project.

If you don't learn to do it, I'm afraid it's probably not going to get done.  Sorry.

  • Looking for a DAZ3d rigger.  I have several models I would like rigged.  I would love to hire you.  Some of these models should be easy to rig as they are more architectural in nature but some vehicles and later some characters.

Models like this.  I'm doing several buildings with an anime/tokyo theme.

Here is the first model in our DAZ 3d collection.

Please PM if interested on contact me at [email protected]

One was for partner and one was for hire.   I thought they might be different.    But it is awesome to know I can change the title.  That makes a world of difference.  Thanks.  Not all forums allow a title change.  That is awesome!

We even allow you to move your whole thread around from Forum to forum, using the same first post and the category option.

  • Cool.  Thanks.  Now if only someone would bite.  :)

  • I'll rig it.

I think I sent you a message earlier but maybe you missed it.
