R.I.P. Pete. I remember sort of seeing him at one of the SF Gay Parade Rally's after the parade. I was so high on a pot brownie that I dared not try to walk any closer to the stage! lol. Fred was just as high, sort of behind me. Pete was singing "You Spin Me ..... hit. and talked about his life a little bit. Never understood all the plastic surgery stuff but what ever makes you happy in life...... Such talent. He will be missed!

You Spin Me Round is one of my all time favorites. I can't even tell you how many times we danced to this drunk of our butts and stoned to boot lol.
Saw Dead or Alive at a huge dance club in Houston back when I was in college, great experience and show. I'm with you on the surgery part. There is a youtube video with an interview about him talking about the surgery and how it almost killed him at one point.

I thought it was very interesting that he said changing his face was like changing the furniture. A very unique outlook.
'You Spin Me Round' is big on nostalgia value here too, but 'In Too Deep' was always my favourite. I don't understand the surgery thing either, but he almost seemed to have some kind of addiction to it. A short life by today's standards, but definitely one lived large. Rest in peace, Pete.
Most famous person I was near would have to be Cheech in '84 at the restaurant I worked as a busboy in (may of been '83) or Tom T Hall. The one I remember though was Queen Elizabeth going by in her Royal Stage Coach just outside Buckingham Palace Gates, but that wouldn't be considered meeting someone. LOL, I'm not sure picking up famous people's dirty dishes when they were through with them qualifies as meeting them either.
I have to admit Peter Burns was pretty original looking before all the plastic surgery...at least judging from that 'You Spin Me Round' video. I'd pretty much forgot about of the old 80s music videos but that's a lot of good music and it's great for putting on these new big digital TVs to relax or workout, although the quality is sometimes lacking because it looks like they were copied off of old VHS tapes.
Also Bobby Vee died, although I admit I've never heard his music, or at least knew it was his music if I heard it.
My first husband was very into rock and roll and I often used to sing along to Bobby Vee on his albums (when no-one was listening :)), and even though this was in the eighties and long after the rock and roll era, the music was such a big part of our household that I thought everyone knew who Bobby Vee was. When I mentioned earlier to current husband that Bobby Vee had died today too, he asked 'Who?'. Oh well. Rest in peace, Bobby.

My Heart Goes Bang Bang Crack Crack. Dead Or Alive's avant-garde fabulousness, playfulness, and sense of humor never really got the mainstream recognition it deserved. For a perfect example of their bananas-on-ham style that's also seasonally appropriate, please enjoy Pete [and his banana] in the Something in My House music vid.

Remember Bobby Vee though.
Born not far from me, Pete Burns was a local legend even when he worked at Probe Records in Liverpool in the 80s. Buying anything he didn't like was sure to draw a snarl. If he really didn't like it he could just throw it back and refuse to sell it :) May he rest in peace.
HAHAHA... I'm sure he gave good "resting bitch face" while he was throwing the album back on the counter too! LMAO
