Bryce 7.1 Daz 3d What is the easiest way jpg to .fbx

Greetings-

I have a problem using blender that unfortunately is unsolvable even if I build from source. If anyone has a copy of blender that works correctly that would suffice. The real issue is for making a 2d player image into a 3d animated image the only thing I need is to get a 2d image from Bryce to Daz and back but I am not really sure if the usual way even works for me with Bryce and Daz.

So the question is what is the easiest way with FBX converter in mind to get a 2d image to a .3ds image where I can use it in Daz as a .fbx format?

Thank you all in advance-

Regards-

  • .....I honetly have trouble understanding what you are trying to do there.

If you want to have a 2D image displayed in a 3D applications, I suggest just creating a simple plane and adding the JPG image as a texture on it. There you go.

Unless you want to achieve something else than that?

  • Greetings-

Well I want to do exactly what you stated but make that 2d image that I import into Daz to send back to Bryce and get a Mesh for that image and now it is ready to be a complete 3d character. There was a video on youtube.com that got taken down witch showed how to just import an .fbx that was converted from a jpeg and send it to Bryce 7.1 and voila you have all you need for your character to be mage as a .duf file with Daz concepts in mind.

So I understand do what you stated makes sense but does not seem to work correctly for me. In otherwords just gimp jpg to blender and then imported into daz but I can't get blender to work anymore.

I am sorry I am little bit unclear but the real topic is creating a 2d charcter image and transofrming it into a fullly usable 3d animated character with Bryce and Daz?

Can you please show the image?  What is the mesh you are getting?  How did you get the mesh?  You did it in Bryce?  Can you show an image of this mesh?

  • Greetings and thanks-

So here is my player character that I want to conver from a 2d image to a .3ds to use in Daz as an .fbx import to send back to bryce and have it get a mesh where I can work with it in Daz to animate. So basically I need to just get a mesh of this the easiest way. A video on youtube with Bryce and Daz did this simply by getting it into Daz as .fbx and sending it back to bryce and voila it immediately had a mesh associated with the original 2d image.

Then from there you could work with it way easier with just Daz to animate any aspect of it with out the fuss of creating all nodes and everything associated with making an animation.

Once the process is completed for certain reasons I can then use the 3d animated image in my Game Engine of Choice.

Question if you are using Bryce 7.1 and Daz 4.9 what do you do?

What if I told you you could just spawn the object entirely in your game engine and never need to touch Bryce or DAZ?

I get the feeling you are trying to make something simple but take several completely not necessary steps to do this.

Alright so - What is the game engine you are using? Most available game engines like Unity or Unreal have a Plane Primitive as an option. It comes as a ready mesh. All you need to do is assign a material to it and in that material put in your JPG/PNG image as a Texture. Bam - ready. You can now move it and manipulate it in 3D space.

I'm kind of confused by what you are saying, cause you mention having a 3D animated image which is basically just a plane with a texture added to it. There is no need for DAZ or Bryce to get something like that in a game engine.

if its a 2D image there is no mesh, its just pixels on a flat surface.

you could possibly in Blender or Bryce, not D|S use the image as displacement to create a 3D mesh of sorts with facets that could be exported as an obj, I can do this in Carrara so assume those two modelers do it too.

putting it in Bryce's greyscale terrain map editor could do it too.

you would then have to rig it in D|S and it would be a messy triangulated thing though Blender could be used to clean that up or a free program called instant meshes.

might prove usefull too but most need multiple photographs, I have used 123D catch by Autodesk to make a few messy meshes.

  • Toe Jam -?

Since I like your suggestion about instant-meshes. I was wondering do you have a repository avaiable with instant-mesh.exe buildable in C. I am working on that too for Blender.

Really for some reason my version of software that are being released to me personally from the internet are not working and I don't want to look into because it's like the song One in a Million!!
