Lollipop Shaders

I just discovered these the other day, and they look amazing!

www.lollipopshaders.com

Can they be used natively in Studio?

Or could they be modified via the spaghetti brick network thingy that I've never once looked at? Cuz I'd be willing to try for that Ocean!

I don't dislike iray, but it certainly dislikes me! Crashes my poor Studio almost every time I try to render with it, so for the time being, I've just given up on it.  So til I can afford a new (insert item here: computer, video card, RAM, whatever) I'm trying to find ways to get MODERN 3delight working in Studio.

Upon downloading this product, you can use it in any system that is setup with RenderMan (Maya, Houdini, Katana, or any custom package) on any platform (Windows, Mac OSX, Unix).

It doesn't list Daz Studio, so probably not.

    Yes and no...

The ones that have an rsl (sl)/uncompiled file can be imported and made to work natively, but the precompiled versions...no.

And that doesn't account for the fact that most 'modern' shaders can't be imported directly as the needed functions aren't exposed in Shader Builder (throws compile errors with newer code), so you need to do a roundabout way of building them.

A lot of info on shaders...importing, development and how to gt the most out of 3DL.

  • @mjc1016 thanks for the info...i wasn't sure which version of those shaders i'd need. least now i know that much.

for a laugh, i sent the lollipop guys an email basically asking if they'd be willing to rework their shaders so that they could be used in Studio. I didn't think much of it but I actually got a response from one of the shader architects there asking me...' what is Daz Studio'? Interpret that how you will, it's one response more than I thought id get. but maybe if they feel we're a big enough market they just might be willing to rework their shaders for us! who knows? lollipop shaders right here in the store? that would be sweet!

I'd even be willling to do the work for them...sort of.

Before they upgraded, a couple of years ago they had a bunch of free ones available as source files, that I did get into Studio...yeah they were simpler ones but...

Short of writing the support scripts by hand, doing so with the more complex ones is an exercise in frustration.
