PostgreSQL CMS Connection Error

Hi!

I am a newbie who is running DAZ Studio 4.9 (64-bit) using Windows 7 Pro and Norton Internet Security.

On start-up, DAZ displays an error message (A valid PostgreSQL CMS connection could not be established ...)

How do I fix it?

Thank you!

Dr. T

    Did you install PostgreSQL CMS?

Make sure Norton is allowing Daz Studio and PostgreSQL to communicate.

  • Have you install PostgreSQL? Nortone shouldn't be an issue, that's what I use and it doesn't require special settings.

    Dear Mike and Richard,

Thank you for your prompt response.

No, I haven't install PostgreSQL.  How do I do it?  Outside DAZ?

    Dr. T

  • Yes, it is an option in Install Manager (probably more tha one, at least 32/64 bit and you may have a beta pair too - choose one of the 64 bit versions if you can, but don't try installing more than one as only one version can be installed at once so the last installed will replace all the others). If you've been usiong Valentina up to now you will also want to "install" the Valentina to PostgreSQL Conversion utility (which doesn't install anything as such but creates a PostgreSQL format copy of the Valentina database - if it can).

    Dear Richard,

Oops!  PostgreSQL CMS was installed.  Yet, I get an error message that it can't connect on start-up.

  • OK, the next thing to check is the settings.

Go to C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\cms\ (AppData is hidden by default, you will need to enable Hidden Files and Folders in the View tab of the Folder Options Control Panel update to see it)

Open the cmscfg.json file in a text editor

    Go to the ContentCluster sub-folder

Open the postgresql.conf in a text editor

Does the Port Setting in the first file match the only Port line that doesn't start with a # in the second? Does the value match that in DS, Edit>Preferences>CMS Settings tab?

Does the ContentCluster Settings in the json fiel match the setting in DS, Edit>Preferences>CMS Settings tab?

  • If you can't resolve this, or don't wish to get involved with editing configuration files, you can try the Public beta which can attampt to fix issues (see the Change Log:

he port number defined in the postgresql.conf file, found within the database cluster path, is now read (if any) on launch of the application and validated against the port number read (if any) from the application data cmscfg.json file; if the port numbers in these two files do not match, the cmscfg.json file is updated to reflect the port number read from postgresql.conf file

or you can open a support ticket and Customer Service should be able to help you makes the checks.
