The moon loads very far away from the scene and at the horizon. If you zoom out you can see it. You then use X, Y, Z rotate on the TL3Control to raise it up into the sky or rotate it around the sky.
This is the first I've tried to use the TerraLUNA 3 product. Viewing the video tutorial, there's one point where it seems something has changed since the video was made.
The Content Library has no "Sky Utility" option for eg, "EIA Environment Intensity," as shown in the video at the time 12:00. Nothing like that is listed in the product's File List, either.
I installed a new zip file today, since my old copy was from October 2016. But it didn't change the selections in the Content Library. The zip looks like it's identical to the old one, anyway.
Maybe I'm just burned out mentally after too much trial and error with the scene I'm working on, but it really does look like what's missing is important for the product. I'd at least like to make sure all the "parts" are there.
So, can anybody tell me where I'm confused? I have no doubt it's me that's confused :)
I found it! Look in the "HDR Skies" folder that is under Terradome 3, not TerraLuna 3. There you will find the "Sky Utility" folder with the environment intensity adjustments. That is confusing. Here is my screenshot:
Well, interesting! I don't have TerraDome 3 installed, so maybe that program is in fact required!
Thanks! I'll go back and see what I can figure out...
At least I'm more awake today. I'll report back in a few hours. Thanks again, dawnblade!
it does say it's standalone too though
True, but those presets are just shortcuts to change the Environment Intensity in render settings:
Yeah, I did a quick check, and TerraDome 3 is not required. My setup, though, is definitely messed up. My screenshot shows everything that is in TerraLUNA's HDR Skies section. (Sorry, I don't know how to bring it up to full view here).
Tomorrow, I'll create a new ContentLibrary folder for just TerraLuna 3 alone and experiment with it by itself. But actually, if the missing items are only for changing the Environment Intensity, I don't need them, anyway... Much more to study.
Thanks for helping me to confirm I've got a technical problem and not a mental one :)
Your screenshot shows the same files I have, as well as anyone else who has this product. Personally, I wouldn't mess with the Content Library, as you won't get anything extra by doing that.
It's super easy. All you have to do is experiment with how bright/dark you want the image to look, by just manually changing the Environment Intensity. The shortcuts range from .5 to 3.0; so just click on the Environment Intensity value, change the number, hit enter and see how it looks in Iray Preview or a render.
Your screenshot has a Sky Utility, and EIA Environment Intensity settings, and mine has neither. I don't know what you mean, therefore.
But I may have solved my mystery:
At 4:10 & @ 10:15 in the video, he has a screenshot just like mine.
Then, at 12:00, his screenshot shows what you have. So what changed?
He wasn't looking at TerraLUNA at that point! He was looking at TerraDome! He was using it to change the lighting in his scene.
At that point, I still had my focus on TerraLUNA. I have no focus. I have cataracts.
So, the takeaway from this Daz Studio lesson: Wear sunglasses when you're young.
