I'm trying with another product with a similar problem -- the two that were in Fast Grab -- and I found that lowering the translucency weight helps for the initial adjustment. I simply gave up after a while because I was getting nothing similar to the promos. In fact, the 3DL presets worked much better... I'm actually thinking of returning the two, since they were quite expensive at over $5 each.

I was considering whether or not to get those - are they really that bad?

It's not that they're bad, but that I wouldn't recommend them at that price because of this bug. It ultimately boils down to whether or not I could live with using the 3DL presets because adjusting the Iray presets is just not worth my time.

edit: and Uggghhh I just found another one of my Iray presets that was never updated after this bug was fixed :(

Yeah, that's understandable. At $10 you could pretty much get a new release figure rather than a couple of the older ones that don't work really well and need a lot of shader tweaking. And there is no guarantee they'll ever really look as good as you'd like, unfortunately.
