What's the Weirdest Thing in the Store?

A thread to post/discuss the weirdest items sold for this little hobby of ours....

This isn't to bash any items or creator, just kind of look at and go....wait, what?

This was inspired by Luthbellina's new Broken Doll outfit.

http://www.daz3d.com/broken-doll-for-genesis-3-female-s

I mean, the sexy pilot outfit is very cool.  And the cybernetic arm is very cool.....but combined, that's just...wait, what?

People with artificial limbs aren't allowed to wear sexy clothes? cheeky

(Yeah, I know. The younger generation uses "behindert" (handicapped) as swear word in my country, so what am I complaining about?) frown

  • I thought it was a marching band girl outfit actually and is rather nice, I actually thought of a mixed marching band of humans and robots seeing it.

I knew a girl in high school with a chrome hook for her forearm and hand. She wore what the rest of us wore for clothing of course. As far as the wierdest thing in the store, well the list is too long if I were to make that list to even start, but the girl in the band outfit with the prostetic arm wouldn't be on that list.

Weird in what way?  There are a couple of old April Fools items that have remained in the store that are just rather nonsensical, like DAZneyland http://www.daz3d.com/dazneyland and Pretty In Pink http://www.daz3d.com/pretty-in-pink , but those are just intentionally silly

If you mean weird as in disturbing combinations, I've always kinda wondered what thought process resulted in AntFarm's Fly Girl... http://www.daz3d.com/fly-girl-hd-for-genesis-2-female Of course, it's not even the onlybug/woman hybrid in the store, and with the RDNA artists being merged in, nowhere near the most disturbing now that Mortem Vetus is here.  Or if you mean weird as in things that just shouldn't go together, Evil Innocence has some handcuff and manacle sets for some of the most adorable toon characters, like the Baby Unicorn and Cookie... I always wonder what kind of nightmarish afterschool special these could be used for and then my brain shuts down.

These guys are pretty weird: http://www.daz3d.com/ranaki

  • My old MS Lycan in bikini riding a pink lama with glasses, I swear I'm going to get that Wendy one day !!!

If those ranaki were for Genesis, I'd snap them up. I'm a fan of weird. ;)

But alas, geograft is one of the things you can't really adapt between generations reasonably.

The weirdest thing in the store is the behaviour of the checkout function. What that checkout doesn't know about 'strange' and 'bizarre' isn't worth knowing :)

The legs aren't geograft they are conforming legs bit like the mertails, they predate geografts.

I did have resonable success in autofitting them the feet go a bit weird but not too much.

Given that it's called Broken Doll, it's either weird or insensitive. I'm going with weird.

  • I don't see how this is any weirder than anything else in the store. Well, except for those ranaki, those are weird.

First thing I thought was that cyber-armed women are the new "thing" - look at the cover splash for the new Painter. It's her right arm instead of left but its the same thing. This years art trope.

I just thought it was a modern take on the classic Toy Soldier trope.

    Greetings,

In terms of 'weirdest', I'm kinda going with 'Severed Man'.  Or maybe that crazy rabbit-human cross.

Luthbellina's stuff often has an amusingly off-kilter edge to it, and I like that.  The Broken Doll outfit totally makes me think of a world where synths and people are commonly intermingling.

Well, if you put Luthbel's Cthulhu on Polish's "Road Cruiser" hog, it's pretty weird, but I don't think the creator of either item intended it to go with the other, so...

    I vote for Ant Farm's pirhana-bot!

Sorry Joe, but my vote goes to your Mr Mole and the Attack of the Naked Mole Rats... which I of course bought :)

Another weird thing is that animation motions and poses are stuffed under the same category with no way to filter away 10,000 pointless poses some of us don't ever want or need!

The Ant Farm's crytozoid and alien autopsy are among my fav "weirds". I like artists with a nice mix of CG skills and a sense of humor.

  • I vote for Emotiguy..

My vote goes for this tentacle. Sure, it has its uses, as many have proven in the gallery, but still...

  • Speaking of tentacles, Silent Sally by Rawart is definitely weird, but in a thoroughly awesome way! http://www.daz3d.com/silent-sally-for-genesis-3-female

Well we all know that a reboot of "The Six Million Dollar Man" is about to come out, so I have a feeling cyborgs are going to become a thing very soon.  As for science fiction it's really not that weird or uncommon at all, that imagery has been around for a long time.  Glad to see somebody jump on a trend before it becomes commonplace than seeing a bunch of stuff coming out where you automatically realize where the inspiration came from.
