@Charlie Judge: Do you know what kind of cpu cooling system, you got in your computer?

Is it the same as L'Adairs: Asetek 570LXL 240mm Liquid CPU Cooling System w/ Copper Cold Plate (2 x Standard 120MM Fans)?

Not exactly. Mine is the Asetek 550LC 120mm Liquid Cooling CPU Cooler .

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I had to look it up and wait until I finished an appointment

Thanks, Charlie Judge. Mine is Corsair H80i and it produce so much noise. It looks like Asetek Liquid Cooling is the way to go for.

I have a Corsair H75 with a 2 fan push/pull set up on an AMD FX8350 Black (comes with both AMD and Intel adaptors). Both the fans and the pump are very quiet, even under full load. I've read reviews where people complain about the pump noise, but mine can only be heard it you really "try" to hear it.

It looks like the Corsair models with smaller numbers are better than mine H80i. My son had H60 and it was also very quiet.

I have pretty mixed feelings about Cyber Power. My current computer came from there and so far I have worn out the ssd, cpu and the motherboard. That said I use the computer about 15 hours a day for work and run renders on it often when I sleep so it gets run hard. And none of it went boom till after I had been using the computer for around 9 months so it very likely was wear and tear. They do have really good deals though.

Hi, Khory. Thanks for the response.

I have a 7-1/2 year old computer from them, (actually their other brand name, I Buy Power,) and it's still working fine. Slow, but fine. I don't use it for graphics anymore. I actually got it via Newegg. I tried looking for something from Dell, (I'm not a fan, but a friend I trust highly recommends them.) I went to Newegg, and they didn't have anything close regardless of the manufacturer. I plan on putting it on my Visa, so I'll have some recourse there, if I run into issues. Of course, I haven't taken the leap yet. Still time to change my mind. Do you have another manufacturer you could recommend?

Your HP motherboard has HTPC or NAS server written all over it. If you purchase another pc. I would repurpose that pc as either a Media server with Kodi or Plex.

I hadn't considered that. Thank you for the suggestion.

  • Did you consider the M-Disc bluray writer? I have one in my computer, made by LG. The M-disc is longer lasting, up to 100 years I am told, whereas the regular writeable discs have a short life until you start to lose data, perhaps 5 -8 years.

I feel as you do, L'Adair, and got a computer that will be my last computer..... basically dual 10 core Xeon processors. I will get a  new GPU board when the dust settles on the new stuff. I don't think I will outgrow it in this lifetime.

    Good luck

M-Disc wasn't on the menu, literally. But even if it had been, this is the first I'm learning about it, and I doubt I would have bumped the price up even more to get one.

Once upon a time, I was an electronic technician, so I'm comfortable with going inside a computer and making hardware changes. Perhaps when this computer is paid for, I'll add an M-Disc writer. But I suspect I'll either add another 32GB of ram or another Nvidia 1080 card first. And in a year or so, the M-Disc will probably be less expensive

I have to admit, though, I do envy the dual 10-core processors.

Well, it's been two years since I purchased The Beast, and I have run into only a couple of issues. The darned Windows Paging file was killing me when I was trying to use Catalyzer. So I spent another $300 dollars and added another two sticks of RAM for a total of 64GB. Before I could buy another GTX1080, the cryptominer craze exploded. The same card that I have in my computer skyrocketed in price, and has yet to get back down to the $400 price, so I'm still running one video card. Oh, I also added a 4TB hard drive last February, (2018.)

The Asetek 570LXL developed a noise issue after about 9 months. I was able to determine the problem was dust buildup on the blades and cleaning them when it got noisy helped. Not sure if it was the dust or the cleaning, but one fan was giving me grief. I pulled the radiator down, removed the fans, and gave tthem a thorough dusting with a soft brush. When I put it back together, neither fan wanted to turn when I applied power.

I found spinning the fans by hand before turning on the computer allowed them to get started, and after 20 minutes or so, they were spinning at near full speed. I ran the computer that way for a few days while I waited for the replacement. The parts were no longer under warranty, however. I ended up buying a Corsair Hydro H100i PRO from Amazon. It was on sale for $90, and with my (Visa) rewards points, I ended up paying just under $42.

It arrived and I installed it about a week and a half ago. The fans are whisper quiet, (for now—this is a rather dusty environment, with three cats and all,) and my computer is now running as quiet as it did when I first I bought it.

I thought I'd update this thread in case anyone is searching the forums for info on either the Asetek 570LXL or the Corsair H100i. The Asetek cost me an extra $27 when I bought my computer in 2016. Even though it only lasted two years, I feel like I got my money's worth. I'll have to report back again in a year or so, and let you all know how the Corsair is working out.
