Just a thought you have got DS pointed to the place where PWToon installed to, I think I remember having problems with that once.

I re installed. I believe that its in the right location. Im a manual installer so I tend to place things where I want them. Ill double check though.

    Its in the right spot.

Personally I would try installing it via DIM to be honest its one of those things that needs some stuff in the program I think. In the morning I will check where and how mine is installed and post back.

But if all the bits are in the same place where they are on you other computer it should work.

  • The actual shader files need to go in specific folders in the application folder - you are going to do much better to use DIM rather than placing everythign by hand.

  • There was a glitch in DS 4.8 where pwToon was acting quite wonky. Are you trying to use it on a Mac? I noticed it then. The problems were resolved when 4.9 was released. It might be a matter of just doing the upgrade. If pwToon is debugged for DS 4.9, it might still be buggy under 4.8.

Installing through DIM did the trick. Im in business. laugh

  • Hey all,

Im getting some fun results with toon but I am losing shadow detail. If I want to preserve some really strong shadows in say skin detail what could I try? This might be a 3dl thing, who knows. I havent been in 3dl for ages.

Nope. No screenshots. Its a surprise.wink Details like wrinkles and lines. Can I alter the shadow color so that they stand out more?

Ah, time for Unca Will's tips!

Wrinkles and internal details, if that's what you mean, are driven heavily by a combination of Outline Width and Bump/Displacement.

Increasing Outline Width will thicken lines and make more details come out, but you then increase how much glancing surfaces will 'bleed' together into solid black.

The best method, IMO, is to get outline width up to a point where it looks good without big blocks of black, and then fine-tune Bump and/or Displacement. I've found different items might have to be tweaked differently until you get either a consistent look or an inconcistent look you like.
