What a wonderful idea :)
Well my name, Zeddicuss, is a character in a epic fantasty book series called "The Sword of Truth". I just adore that series and the character called Zeddicuss is the wise old wizard with a good sense of humour, who is a bit cheeky but very brilliant. Actually I am a massive Lord Of The Rings fan as well and my favorite character from that is Gandalf. I guess they are a little alike. When I was just starting to become a content creator I was part way through one of the Sword of Truth books and it just sort of clicked. Whenever I play RPG games with my boyfriend, I always pick the wizard class too lol. Actually I feel so blessed to work in this community and I really love it. I have made so many friends and I love the balance the job brings, being creative one day and the other, crafting with new technology.
Cheers, Ava :) :) :)
Thanks for popping in to share your username origin story, Ava! You're in good company with the number of PAs whose usernames were taken or influenced by favorite novels, particularly in the fantasy genre. Perhaps there's a connection between artistic passion and a love of fantasy!
I hope you have a great response to your sale. I'm picking up another one of your hand pose sets today. You do a lovely job with them. Even with great tools like PowerPose, I find getting realistic looking hand poses (especially the more subtle and delicate ones like those offered in your products) to be a challenge.
LOL, this made my day. We kid because we love.
I don't really know... I went out in the garage one morning and they were all gone... I guess I left the door open... Sucked because that was a lot of work for nothing... First it was the dinosaurs, then the zombie cats and finally the zombie clowns... And those are hard to come by, because at most your average circus has maybe three of four lying around that they don't need... Megh, I gave up... Granted, if anyone finds them... Ah, nevermind... Just let them be... I'm done with that nonsense... Dressing up chinchillas in period costumes and training them to reenact key battles of World War One is more fun anyway... I just wish they would stop shooting at me instead.
Curiousity has bested me... Do you happen to know who KMFDM is? I suspect that you might, based on Inane and Glory.

"Wiz" just suits my style. I'm one of the first members on a lot of art forums, so I grab it when it's available. On this forum, I've been here longer than 99.9% of members. ;)
Real simple. At one time when I was still youngish, muscular, active, handsome and fun to be around, I was one of those people who rode motorcycles and dressed in as much leather as often as I could. When I started getting tattoos, I wanted a theme. First tattoo was obtained in Sydney, Austrailia and it was a gryphon. All others since then have been gryphons of some sort. So, "LeatherGryphon" became my adopted biker name and it's carried on. Now that I've lost my muscles and been many more times around the sun, the gryphons are wrinkled, faded and spotty. Just like me. Also, I am no longer fun to be around and nobody is interested in seeing my gryphons anymore even the ones hiding in the interesting places.
PS: if you haven't figured it out, my avatar, like me, is comicly sadistic and a little squirrelly.
Wow I thought that but I did not dare to ask! I'm a fan too of The Sword of Truth" books :)
I should soon come back to tell why my PA name is my PA name (and why I regret it lol).
McGyver channels his power? I thought it was just kind of lying around.
I love leather too and in the 90's-mid-2000's, I went through sort of a bad girl stage, wearing lots of black leather and boots and hung out a lot at the famous rocker hangout in LA, The Rainbow Bar and Grill and dated rocker dudes. Plus my cat is named Griiffin LOL... Here's my render (done a WHILE ago) of the typical rocker dude. Welcome to the Jungle baby! LOL... Just realized, I forgot his tattoos, and leather bracelets and spikey jewelry!
Hey no problem :) I think you could well be right on that, drawing in creative minds and inspiring creativity as well. And thanks so much, I hope you get on well with the hand pose set :)
LOL, that gave me a good laugh, can't believe your Mom said that.
I am a private pilot and really big into flight simulators. I started designing mods and addons for them awhile back and a friend added my initials to the design part on one of my first addons, so MCDesigns. I got into SIMS2 design when it first came out and when I signed into one of the main SIMS sites, I just added the FS for Flight Sims to it not thinking it thru that it would stick and follow me around wherever I go forever, LOL
Ditto, although my licence has lapsed for various reasons (money mostly!). Have you come across the Plan-G flight planner for flightsim? - that's also me.
I too am familiar with the "Sword of Truth" series. Interesting fantasy world. And I instantly recognized the name Zeddicuss as the wizard from the old world. I've read, I believe, all of them including "Debt of Bones".
Arghhh.... I just checked wikipedia and realized I haven't seen any of them newer than 2007. I thought it was all over after "Confessor". I've missed 5 books. Sigh. Good story but I was relieved when "Confessor" seemed to tie up all the loose ends. I felt the plot had run its course with the first 12 books.
Ahh ok cool. I have read all up to and including Confessor. I think after that, the story takes a new turn and I haven't had a chance to sit down and read them yet. Something I am looking forward to when I find time :)
I can't call myself an artist, but here is how my humble name came to be.....
When I was a kid growing up in a rural area there was a farm behind my house. Every summer the hay would grow really high, later to be harvested for the cows and horses. In the summer time it made a very beautiful sound as the breeze blew through the tall hay and grass. I remember being able to watch the breeze bend the tall grass and send a wave of bending grass through the huge field, from one end to the other. It was hilly, so I could look down on the fields and watch the changing colours and textures and light... perhaps as mezmerizing as watching the waves of the ocean, actually more so for me. The sights and the sounds were very beautiful... so that became the name I used.... just motivated by beauty.
Randy
I'm just a relative newbie here, only been working with Daz for a year or so, so I guess I'm a DA.
I came up with Stryder as a nickname wayyyyyy back when I first read Lord of the Rings, putting my own spin on the name of Aragorn (Strider). Since most places I tried to register under that name said it was already taken (I guess I wasn't so clever after all changing the i to a y haha), I threw 87 on the end as that's the year I graduated from High School, which made it easy to remember. I've used small variation of it (Stryder8769, Stryder6987) depending on availability (69 being the year I was born).
I got into video editing back in the mid-2000's for a while and made a few anime music videos under the name HourGlass Studio (they can be found here: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_myprofile.php?user_id=824017 ). I thoroughly enjoyed it and would have done more, but I was always drawn to actual drawing. The only problem is that I'm so lousy at it that even my stick figures are crooked! I found a link to Daz while working on a project for work and decide to check it out. I finally have a way to get the images in my head out in a form I can share! Since I had used HourGlass Studio as the name I published my videos under, I recently decided that anything I posted online would be 'branded' with that name (copyright stamped). It just seemed the logical thing to do.
I'm just a guy trying to make pretty pictures, getting them out of my head before they drive me nuts!
I've told the story a few times now.. When I created my first character in Everquest (1) in 2001 I named her Fistandantalia.. feminised version of Fistandantalus from the Dragonlance novels. Not very creative, and she was a Dwarf Rogue so that really didn't fit.. but oh well. That was my character name for a LONG time, and I played EQ like a full time job, I was in the top raiding guild on the server. Now in EQ1 for a long time if you wanted to PM someone or invite them to a group you had to type in their full name, there was no automated gui for it or auto-completion so my guildmates hated it. So after a few years of that my partner got me a name change for my birthday and I changed it to Fisty which was what everyone called me anyway. I played a rogue named Fisty in WoW as well for quite a few years, and it was the obvious choice when I made an account here in 2005. I've also used my SCA name, AElflaed or Lady AElfaed a lot.. so if you see a Lady AElflaed around (mostly gaming circles) that's probably me as well. I regret not using AElflaed here but Fisty is too entrenched with my branding to change it now. My first online handle was way back in the dial-up BBS days, I was called Darts (because that's what was on the desk when I made my first account.)
Wait, Cris Palomino is a girl?!?
Indeed.
...I like that. Grew up in the Midwest.
...I remember when I first came here to Daz I kept getting you mixed up with another Fisty who was a moderator over on the Shadowrun Dumpshock forums There were also several 3D artists I met there on one of the art threads there (back when I could still sort of draw before my arthritis got worse) who worked with Daz or Poser.
There was also a Fistandantalus there as well. Popular name choice among the RPG set no matter what genre..
My wife and I were married on October 29, 1994. We wanted a Halloween wedding, but my Mother threatened to boycott it.
That September, after moving into our new house, we bought a copy of Internet-in-a-Box from Comp-USA and joined our first ISP. We set up our own user names under the same account. When asked for mine, I spent the next half hour trying to come up with something that best conveyed my interests with a single word. My wife suggested Nightfall because it's my favorite time and I love dark and mysterious things. I tried it, but the spelling was taken, so I replaced with the 'i' with a 'y', and voila.
Yeah, I've had trouble with Fisty being taken a few times, I usually go for Lady AElflaed then or Fisty Mayhem
Fisty Mayhem sounds like your average Mancunian night out ....

I've had mine for about 15 years (holy crap I'm old) from back in highschool when I was really into Dragonball Z :p
Saiyan + -ess suffix = female Saiyan :p I rp'd, like, ONCE as a vampyric Saiyan in a chat room (because I was lame) and used the long-arse name Vampyric-Saiyaness for my DeviantArt account because Saiyaness was taken...
I like the sound of it so I never bothered changing it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Old? When you were in high school I was retired on disability.
I've definitely come to appreciate that "old" is a state of mind in the Daz community.
I love the fact that there is such a large age span of artists here!
Inorite? At 45 I sometimes feel like one of the youngun's, which really does not happen often, I assure you. Really good thread pds. Congrats.
