Terra Dome 3 Render Time

The Render time in a default on simple scene 2 hours and not done. I have Quadro Graphic card and 16 gigs of ram and I-7.  Is there a way to Render the IRAY on Terrain and then bring back into the scene? Looking at Task manager the scene was running 4.6 gigs of ram.
