Terradome 3 - is export possible

Watched the explanation of the Terradome 3, which is very impressive.

I use Daz3d mostly for exporting to other applications.

My work is producing animated video.

Terrains is always alot of time consuming work.  Not exactly my favorite thing to do. LOL

Currently, I use several terrain applications including Carrara, Bryce and Earth Sculptor for making height maps.

I use IClone 6 for finishing off terrains after I import height and other maps.

All trees, grasses and prop items are applied to the terrains in IClone.

So, I guess you could say the creation of earth, water and sky are my requirements.

Are there export options, if so, what are they and where can they be reviewed or tested?

  • I have been trying to do the same for Maya and Iclone. Maya I got it to open on FBX but not in Iclone exchange I get a big ball. Also when I tried to export from Maya to IClone Exchange it said does not except this kind of file.

Even though I doubt they want it exported to use in other apps other than DS what you got was the whole package including the skydome. Not sure about FBX, but with OBJ you get 3 parts, skydome (ball) the mountains and the plain. You have to make sure you have the morphs dialed in before export or you get a flat plane. Exported in OBJ it comes out at over a million polys

Amusingly, this means you could export a TerraDome terrain to Bryce or Carrara and then use their procedural shaders on it.

(And, if you had the right stuff, bake the texture and bring it back into DS)

Why did I not see you coming in with your procedural pitch, LOL.

Going thru the TD3 texture folder, there are some pretty sweet seamless options in there, including some great normal maps. I am having DS crashing options with the actual product, but having great success creating the terrain I want, then exporting as an OBJ and using it that way with the included textures

Well, I haven't pitched _my_ procedural stuff, yet!

(But I prefer my procedural water)
