How to you merge several primatives together and have them move together as a single item?

Are you wanting a single mesh, or do you want to keep them as separate pieces? For a single emsh, hide everything else, export as OBJ, reimport the OBJ (make sure you use the same preset in thwe options dilaogue for import and export). To keep them as separate pieces select them all and then use Create>New Group, then use the Group for moving the set around.
