3DL SSS: Is it working in 4.9.2.70?

Running into some problems that make me wonder if I'm encountering a bug or if I'm just being dumb.
For the life of me, SSS seems to do exactly nothing with UberSurface or UberSurface2 in latest DS. I don't remember if it worked before for me.
Can someone confirm?
Here's a sample, using a blood shader. The ball on the right has Subsurface set Off.

I believe it's pretty much been broken in all the releases, hence the AoA shaders and maybe the move to iray. I mean broken as in not consistently reliable.
Yeah, more and more I'm leaning back toward Iray simply because there's this Byzantine maze of functions and problems and patches and workarounds to get 3DL to do anything, most of which isn't intuitive.
Other than toon stuff, that works great.
AOA SSS and ubersurface work. Check your settings and be sure to use Raytaced shadows
I agree with Takeo, the AOA SSS works fine in this version, I could't wrap my head around UE2 for real yet but I'm working on it
