Am I missing something here?

I only see two items.

Am I missing something here? Do they just not have the sale up fully?

It's hiding items you already own. The other three are the Genesis 3 Female Expressions, Genesis 3 Female Body Morphs and Genesis 3 Female Head Morphs.

(I had to open the page in another browser to see what was Free. I already own all five!)

Ah bummer. Guess they missed the boat on this one, doesn't give one incentive to buy three then if they already have the only five items offered. I think they should have included more items and had a "Get any five free with purchase of 3 new releases" type of thing. Instead of "these five here are your only options, if you have them already, no deals for you!" lol. Ah well, it's Daz missing another opportunity. I finally got some money in and was looking to make some purchases. DAZ YOU MESSED UP! lol :P

Thanks for the explination, guys! :) I should have remembered that they hide stuff we already own, I'll eventually be here long enough to stop forgetting that. lol

  • I really hate those kind of sales. I own all five of the products. They should at least offer some kickback in form of store credit in those situations where they won't give extra discount on the new releases and a user has all/most of the extra products which go heavily discounted or for free. Bummer as expecially the Updo Hair from outoftouch looks really nice. Don't know. Still 3 of 4 from by most-wanted list open so I better save my remaining store credit.

If you bought them in the last 30 days, and take full advantage of this sale, I guess you could ask for store credits for the original purchase. If you bought them more than 30 days ago, then unfortunately this is not an option.

Same position for me. I want the hair but I'll wait until it's part of an offer.

Offering 5 items that many customers will own / consider essential is nice for brand new people or those not yet jumping onto Genesis 3, but screws people who actually bought the content earlier. I'm surprised there's no orange banner for having already bought the things.

wish i'd read this thread before i submitted a support ticket...:)

yeah, this sale is a funny one.

'you've been such a great customer--we're not giving you any incentives to buy today's sale items!'

so ditto for me.  a couple of these are really tempting--the updo hair looks fantastic--but i think i'll wait for a sale that manages to include me.

Same here - kinda sucks, when you spent a bunch of money on the other products.  frown

Yeah, at first I was like, "What the heck?!" I already own 4/5, so I guess I can still get one item as a bonus, but I agree it would have been nice for people who already own most/all of the bonus items to have an alternative incentive.

  • cherpenbeckcherpenbeck Posts: 1,417

Easy. Own most of them, did buy nothing today.

  • Had two of the 5, but will be getting several of the things in the promotion to get the rest; wasn't really going to get the Victoria 7 HD, but at that price... wink

Venting a little. Today's DAZ ad reads...

50% OFF* the following items when you buy ONE “Hair & Light” new release

75% OFF* the following items when you buy TWO or more “Hair & Light” new releases

GET ALL of the following items FREE* when you buy THREE or more “Hair & Light” new releases

With a totally empty list. Not a DAZfunction, logging out reveals an assortment of items I already own. This is becoming a way too frequent occurence.

Sort of like the "freebies", where I see  maybe one item every two months. Maybe.

  • That's just a consequence of having a membership and/or being an (ahem) enthusiastic buyer in the DAZ Store.

Some people just let their PC membership lapse every few years, then come back in a year or two.  If you're not getting enough out of it, why pay $120 per year?

  • wizwiz Posts: 1,100

I'm one of those weird people that PC+ pays off for. I almost always manage to use both coupons a month, wihch is $144, and I find about half the PC+ freebies get used, so we're probably up to $200 or so, even without the discount on new releases, the PC+ stuff, etc.

  • While I understand your frustration, not all.of us can afford the PC+ membership and often have to put off getting things we want to some later date. I did get several of the items at am earlier time, and the other three are going to be acquired tomorrow because of the deal in question. I may mot use all of the stuff right away, but most of it will be useful soon.

  • davesodaveso Posts: 7,957

well, usually, i dont buy anything unless its discounted ... and sometimes they are discounted a lot. When this happens, to me too..I have one item in my list for free, If I look back, I probably got the rest for pretty cheap .. Free ..no, but cheap. It all works out.  I don't buy the dangle stuff and wait for it to go on sale for 50% off or more. I already have enough stuff tha tmissing a few like this really doesn't matter anyway.

Not sure I understand, are you saying that none of the free or discounted items are showing because you already own them?

Not sure I see how this qualifies as a punishment. It's an incentive for people with gaps in their content library - gaps you clearly don't have. I have a similar problem from time to time. It's unfortunate that the sales aren't always as exciting for us, of course, but I don't see it as any kind of a punishment. (In a lot of ways, it's kind of a relief to not be buying new products everyday)

I own something like 6000 DAZ products - it'd be impossible for them to be successfully tempting me everyday. Tomorrow's another sale!

Incidentally, what would you like to see them offer instead?

Well, an Annual PC+ membership is only $70 and sometimes it can be on sale a lot lower. A few weeks ago with the Bundle sale and stacking I was able to get the annual membership for $12.50 in an order with a total cost less $39 which is still a lot less than the full price of the Annual Membership. Just the freebies and coupons are worth a lot more than that to me

I just completed the first pass of a full-on audit/inventory of my content (from all stores, but DAZ represents the overwhelming majority), and I can relate -- my DAZ inventory numbers a bit over 6000 items, and I've seen more than one "sale" like this, when it turns out that I already have everything that was supposed to be on sale, as well as the "freebies' that were thrown in to sweeten the pot!

I'm certainly not complaining, because, based on the preliminary numbers, I've already saved about 63% over the retail price of all of my DAZ content.  I just consider myself an 'early adopter'!  (Sometimes years early, but still...!)

Dang near everybody owns the body morphs and head morphs packages. Look at how many characters require them, they're to all intents and purposes "mandatory" purchases.

The fact that I already had 4/5 of the bonus items didn't prevent me from acquiring three new products today, but it would have been nice if there would have been a different incentive option for those who already had most of the advertised items. Even an alternative "...or take an extra 10% off" the promo'd new releases would have been cool.

I understand the perspective that frequent buyers have likely gotten their share of good deals along the way and because they have been customers longer, perhaps fewer sales will be as compelling. And yes, it *is* nice to log on some days and realize there's nothing I want, whether or not I have money to spend, but it's always good business to look out for your best customers. In Vegas terms, heavy spenders at Daz are the "whales", and there's a reason Vegas casinos comp rooms, meals, and shows for their high rollers. I think Daz understands this and maybe some of the recent "banner promotions" were an attempt at servicing such customers, or at least acknowledging PA support. Since there's always another sale here, maybe one day the alternative incentive idea will catch on.

    yeah...

    it's an interesting marketing decision.

there must be a substantial demographic group of daz customers who already own all of these products because they consider them essentials.

i'm not sure why you'd choose a sale incentive guaranteed not to appeal to that demographic group when you could just as easily come up with something that might.  it's definitely a group that's likely to buy new products.  the likeliest, possibly.

certainly not a customer group you'd want to feel unappreciated or undervalued.

My guess is that the point of the sale is to hook in those people who haven't made the jump to Genesis 3 yet by making it irresistable. Not sure how many customers were sitting around using older technology but without a good reason to be doing so, but that would be my guess at the purpose of it.

Yep, I was able to get the yearly membership for that price too. Definitely worth it considering the weekly and monthly PC+ freebies, plus the .99 cent item every week that you can get with it, and all the $1.99 - $3.99 PC+ items, plus the additional 30% off Daz Originals, PLUS the two $6 coupons every month. It more than pays for itself, even at the full price.

I can see that - they have been giving people more and more incentive to move to G3. It would have been nice if they would have considered that the people who already have the items might be most likely to buy more items though, like jardine said, so having more than just those five as freebies would have been a REALLY good thing as not to upset some of their customers who don't get anything out of the sale. Surely they could have come up with 15-20 items they could have made a list of that says "any five of these are free" instead of "only these five are free".

No matter what is chosen, someone will have some or all of them.  Sales with varying ways to get savings are on all the time.  If one sale doesn't suit you now, there is sure to be one down the line.  You just have to watch for them.
