August "Diva" sale comment, for what it is worth>>
i3, LY, Digitallab3D, WildDesigns, PerspecctX, (and others) exciting looking products! I was getting ready to see what products I could put in my basket.
The "for what it's worth" part of the title comes to the stance that I only use Poser. That means that I cannot use the new products out as I didn't see any designed for Poser. More importantly, as a message to Daz store worker folks, it means I'm not participating in the 50% off Hair sale even though there are probably at least a dozen or more Hairstyles I in my wishlist that I could potentially buy and use.
Unless I am mistaken, the sale, then, is a Daz users only sale. Whether intentionally or not, you've locked me out.
You might consider that on sales where you're not going to present me with anything new to buy, perhaps you might allow the Poser applicable products to be a part of the sale without having to make a purchase. Today you would have gotten me shopping the 50% + 13% Hairstyle products rather than keeping my wallet closed.

I don't use Poser, but I have noticed something about using Genesis 3 in Poser over at Rendo. I think it's a product. Anyway, I can certainly understand your frustration when most of today's offerings only have Iray material presets.
I love Iray myself, and use it almost exclusively. But I like having the 3Delight materials, too, for those times when I don't want photorealism. It's pretty easy to convert 3Delight over to Iray with the Iray Uber Base shader. Too bad they haven't come out with an equivalent one-click solution to convert Iray to 3Delight. I really think they need one. Sure, it wouldn't be perfect, but it would be a much faster starting point for anyone needing to use an Iray optimised set/prop/figure in 3Delight.
Honestly, if I had stayed using poser instead of learning DS 3+ years ago, I would probably be used to not using DAZ products by now since there are so many hoops to jump thru (on both sides) to get DAZs latest tech to work in poser. I would probably also still be using V4 as my main figure also. Thank goodness I decided to stick with learning DS.
products will be made Poser compatible only where the returns warrant it. plus, G3 is the current main figure and will not work in Poser without jumping through a lot of hoops.
unfortunately, Poser users are now in a minority in this market. vendors are going to make products that give a decent return on the time and effort put into making them, and tbh, the time involved in making a product work and look as good in Poser, for a tiny increase in total sales is just not viable anymore.
it does sadden me, because i like Poser as well as DazStudio, but Poser is so far behind in some things, it just is not viable anymore( for my purposes)
This. Didn't wanna leave Poser, but unfortunately Poser left me :(
Keep your eyes open Consumer573....there are bound to be Poser products coming along on sale since Daz bought the RDNA catalog. There was a really good sale on V4 and M4 products just recently that I took advantage of myself - the deals were just too good to pass up ;).

Be aware that you may already own this hair even though it may not be shown as "purchased":
http://www.daz3d.com/gwen-hair-for-genesis-3-and-2-female-s-and-victoria-4
It was relased earlier as a version for "Genesis, Genesis 2 Female, Victoria 4, Aiko 4" which is no longer in the store.
I hear what folks are saying.
I just feel that if Daz had structured their sale differently I could AND would have participated.
There is plenty available on sale, (dual sale yesterday actually), that I... is-am?/was interested in.
Argh.
I keep checking back to see if any hairstyles are on sale. But the Diva offering is ongoing. That means 1000 Hairstyles on sale locked out to me!
Hope someone has made out!
I just started using DS this year and am glad I did.
I was still using V4 with Poser and Octane. But even with every blasted V4 morph under the sun she still had really bad bends compared to Genesis 3.
I'm glad I did now, I prefer the Studio interface and it seems ironic that I can pose much faster than in Poser. Workflow with DS & Iray is much faster & smoother than Poser & Ocane.
The only thing I miss is the integrated morph brush.
I agree. Daz sales are often times structured in ridiculous ways, and if you are not interested in their new shiny item there are many sales you cannot be involved in. But to be a bearer of good news (hopefully) Daz tends to have sales everyday, some that are not new purchase based even. Eventually those items will be on sale for possibly an even better price. What some of us have learned by shopping here specifically is that patience is a virtue.
Btw Poser and Daz both have their good and bad elements, everyone has their preference for what they both have to offer, I don't think the OP was wanting to know everyones' opinion on which one offers more. Just sayin.
Thanks! I'd like to see them both survive (Poser, Daz) and move this 3D segment forward. I feel it's too early for one of the companies to have a monopoly. I'm using Poser right now and am rooting for those folks. I sail (in real life) and if they can't compete on figures like V4 or Genesis I'd like to see them do some things like create a dynamic Rope Room for rigging, and other things like better physics. I've never understood why you can drop a figure to the floor, but not a table or a stair, etc.
There should be a 'drop to' command, no?
I'd also like to see a 'pin' command so you can 'pin' a segment of a character to something and have the rest of the character go ragdoll in physics (pin a hand to a ledge, or a foot to a rope loop).
I've had earlier versions of Daz and I really liked Carrara. I've just sort of chosen one to stick with for the moment, and it's Poser! Certainly there are things i would like to buy in Daz - like Aurelio's Browsntones caught my eye today and I think they're really neat.
I hope you're right about new sales. That thousand item hair sale under Diva's with only genesis finally went away so hopefully they'll have some hairstyles on sale again now!
It doesn't have a floor, it is just dropping to 0 on the y axis.
